As residents of North Lake for the last year, we consider Owl’s Nest to still be a “Hidden Gem” as it provides a great experience outside the overbuilding in Lincoln and the unavailability of Waterville. It offers everything you could ask for in a resort with golf, year-round racquet sports, a pool, dining and many events scheduled throughout the year. When you combine those activities with a family-friendly atmosphere, owners now have a very active 12-month lifestyle. With plans for new amenities, it will only get better.

We just really love the lifestyle here. There’s always something to do, whether it’s golf, pickleball, grabbing dinner at the resort, or heading out for a hike or a day of skiing. At the same time, South Lake is quiet and relaxed, and there is always something to do, and we are excited for more and more activity to come. We love being surrounded by the mountains and having so much right outside our door. It’s just a really fun, easy place to live. The proximity to Boston and the central location in the state is ideal, allowing us to commute into Boston once a week for work. On my drive back, even though it’s only Monday, I feel like I’m heading out on vacation.

OUR SISTER COURSE - ASHLAND, NH

THE VINEYARD COURSE

Owl’s Nest Vineyard Course is an 18-hole championship golf course located in Ashland, New Hampshire, just 10 miles south of Owl’s Nest Resort’s main campus in Thornton. Formerly known as White Mountain Country Club, the course sits along the scenic Pemigewasset River and was originally designed in the 1970s by noted architects Geoffrey Cornish and Bill Robinson. The traditional layout features wide fairways, strategic bunkering, and bent grass playing surfaces that appeal to a broad range of golfers. The course plays to a par 71 at approximately 6,500 yards from the championship tees, offering an enjoyable yet challenging experience for players of all skill levels.

Under Owl’s Nest ownership, the Vineyard Course has undergone a transformative $7 million renovation designed to elevate it into one of New Hampshire’s premier golf destinations. Led by Robert McNeil of The Northeast Golf Company, improvements include new tee boxes, expanded playing areas, bunker renovations, selective hole re-routing, upgraded irrigation systems, and refreshed cart paths. The result is a modernized golf experience that respects the course’s original character while enhancing playability and conditioning throughout the property.

Beyond golf, the property is home to what is now the largest vineyard in New Hampshire. More than 6,400 grapevines representing multiple varietals have been planted across approximately seven acres of the course grounds. The vineyard is expected to celebrate its first harvest in fall 2027, with future plans including the production of white, red, and sparkling wines, as well as a dedicated tasting room and restaurant experience.

Conveniently located less than two hours from Boston and easily accessible from Interstate 93, the Vineyard Course combines championship golf, scenic river views, and a one-of-a-kind vineyard experience. Guests can also enjoy nearby accommodations, dining, and resort amenities through Owl’s Nest, creating a distinctive golf getaway unlike any other in New England.

We have marked off our sensitive golf course greens and small hazards. Please stay on your winter trails only.

Waterville Valley Resort

A COMPLETE MOUNTAIN LIFESTYLE: DISCOVERING WATERVILLE VALLEY

In the heart of New Hampshire’s White Mountains, surrounded by vast stretches of protected wilderness, Waterville Valley offers a mountain experience that feels both complete and intentionally designed. Defined by its seamless blend of outdoor adventure, village life, and year-round programming, it stands apart as a destination where recreation and community are equally prioritized. Unlike many resort areas that evolved organically over time, Waterville Valley was purpose-built with a clear vision in mind. From its earliest days, it was designed to offer more than just skiing—to create a fully integrated mountain town where visitors could arrive, settle in, and experience everything the region has to offer without ever needing to leave.

A VISION AHEAD OF ITS TIME

Waterville Valley’s origins trace back to the 1960s, when Olympic skier Tom Corcoran, alongside the Rockefeller family, helped bring to life one of the first purpose-built resort communities in the eastern United States. At a time when most ski destinations were developing in a piecemeal fashion, Waterville Valley introduced a more thoughtful approach—one centered around connectivity, accessibility, and long-term livability.

At the core of this vision was Town Square, a pedestrianfriendly village designed to bring together lodging, dining, retail, and recreation in one cohesive space. Decades before the “village concept” became standard across ski resorts, Waterville Valley had already established a model that prioritized convenience and connection.

That design philosophy continues to define the experience today. Guests can move easily between accommodations, activities, and amenities, creating a sense of ease that is increasingly rare in mountain destinations.

A LEGACY OF INNOVATION AND COMPETITION

Waterville Valley’s impact on the world of skiing extends well beyond its layout. The resort has long been recognized as a center for innovation, competition, and athletic development.

Over the years, it has hosted 11 FIS World Cup races, multiple freestyle World Cup events, and numerous national competitions, establishing itself as one of the most significant race mountains in the eastern United States. Its terrain and infrastructure continue to support high-level training, including serving as an early-season training site for elite athletes.

The resort is also home to Waterville Valley Academy, a program that has helped develop generations of competitive skiers and snowboarders. This culture of progression is woven into the identity of the mountain, creating an environment where performance and recreation coexist.

At the same time, Waterville Valley has remained accessible to everyday visitors, balancing its elite reputation with a welcoming approach that encourages participation at every level.

BUILT FOR EVERY SEASON

While skiing remains a central part of Waterville Valley’s identity, what truly distinguishes the resort is its ability to deliver a complete experience throughout the year.

In winter, the mountain offers terrain for all ability levels, supported by high-speed lifts, reliable snowmaking, and an award-winning snowsports school. Programs begin as early as age three, allowing families to grow with the mountain over time—a tradition that has led many visitors to return year after year.

Beyond alpine skiing, the resort is home to the largest Nordic trail system in the White Mountain National Forest. These trails provide a quieter, more immersive way to experience the landscape, winding through forested terrain that highlights the natural beauty of the region.

Additional winter activities, including snowshoeing, ice skating, and family-focused events, ensure that the season remains engaging for all ages and interests.

As the snow recedes, Waterville Valley transitions seamlessly into a warm-weather destination. Hiking trails connect directly to the surrounding White Mountain National Forest, offering access to everything from gentle walks to challenging 4,000-foot peaks. Mountain biking, golf, tennis, and water-based recreation further expand the range of available activities.

This four-season approach not only enhances the visitor experience but also reinforces the Valley’s role as a year-round community.

A VILLAGE DESIGNED FOR CONNECTION

At the center of Waterville Valley is its village—an environment that feels both vibrant and approachable. Town Square serves as the heart of this experience, bringing together dining, entertainment, and social spaces in a setting that encourages interaction and exploration.

The Square’s design allows guests to park their car upon arrival and move freely throughout the resort. A complimentary shuttle system further simplifies transportation, connecting the village with the mountain and surrounding amenities.

This ease of movement contributes to a more relaxed pace, allowing visitors to focus on enjoying their time rather than navigating logistics.

It also creates opportunities for spontaneous moments—whether that means gathering for live music, exploring local shops, or simply enjoying the view across Corcoran Pond.

Accommodations within the village, including Town Square Condominiums and the Silver Fox Inn, provide convenient access to all aspects of the resort.

With options ranging from multi-bedroom units to comfortable guest rooms, Waterville Valley accommodates a variety of travel styles and group sizes.

ENTERTAINMENT AND APRÈS EXPERIENCES

Waterville Valley extends the mountain experience well beyond the slopes, offering a range of entertainment options that bring energy and variety to each visit.

The Waterville Alley & Arcade provides a family-friendly space for bowling, games, and casual fun, while The Loft Entertainment Lounge introduces a more social atmosphere with game simulators, axe-throwing, and evening entertainment. These venues create opportunities for connection, ensuring that the experience continues long after the lifts have closed.

Dining options throughout the resort reflect a similar balance, with offerings that cater to both relaxed family meals and lively après-ski gatherings. Together, these elements contribute to an environment that feels inclusive, dynamic, and engaging.

EVENTS THAT BRING THE VALLEY TO LIFE

A robust calendar of events plays a central role in shaping the Waterville Valley experience. Throughout the year, the resort hosts a wide range of festivals, competitions, and community gatherings that reflect its diverse identity. Winter highlights include fireworks over Corcoran Pond, night skiing events, and competitions, such as the Henderson Invitational and Special Olympics races. Seasonal celebrations, including holiday markets and end-of-season festivities, add to the sense of occasion.

In warmer months, events such as Chowderfest, the Chili Challenge, and Fall Foliage Fest bring visitors together to celebrate the region’s culture and natural beauty. Weekly programming, including live music and family-friendly activities, ensures that there is always something happening within the Valley. These events not only enhance the visitor experience but also strengthen the sense of community that defines Waterville Valley.

A DESTINATION FOR FAMILIES AND GROUPS

Waterville Valley has long been recognized as one of New England’s most family-friendly resort destinations. Its walkable layout, wide range of activities, and emphasis on safety make it particularly well-suited for guests of all ages. Children can develop skills through structured programs, while adults enjoy opportunities for recreation, relaxation, and social connection. This multigenerational appeal has led many families to establish long-standing traditions, returning year after year to experience the Valley together.

The resort also serves as an ideal setting for group gatherings, including weddings, conferences, and retreats. With flexible event spaces, on-site accommodations, and integrated recreational options, Waterville Valley allows groups to combine productivity and celebration in a seamless way.

LOOKING AHEAD

As Waterville Valley continues to evolve, its focus remains on enhancing the guest experience while preserving the qualities that have defined it for decades. Ongoing investments in infrastructure, including lift upgrades, snowmaking improvements, and village enhancements, reflect a commitment to thoughtful growth. Future plans, such as expanded adventure programming and additional recreational facilities, aim to further strengthen the resort’s position as a leading four-season destination. At the same time, there is a clear dedication to maintaining the Valley’s small-town character and close connection to the surrounding landscape.

A DISTINCTIVE PLACE TO RETURN TO Within the broader Destination 93 collection, Waterville Valley offers a uniquely complete perspective—one that brings together history, innovation, recreation, and community in a single, cohesive environment. It is a place where visitors can fully immerse themselves in the mountain lifestyle, whether for a weekend or a lifetime. More importantly, it is a place that invites return—where familiarity and discovery exist side by side, and where each visit builds upon the last. Cannon Mountain

ELEVATED BY NATURE: THE ENDURING LEGACY OF CANNON MOUNTAIN

Set within the dramatic landscape of Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon Mountain stands as one of New Hampshire’s most storied and respected alpine destinations. Defined by its rugged terrain, sweeping views, and deep-rooted history, Cannon offers an experience that feels both timeless and distinctly connected to the natural environment that surrounds it. Unlike many modern resorts, Cannon Mountain does not rely on excess to make its impression. Instead, it delivers something far more enduring: a commitment to preserving the integrity of the mountain, offering authentic alpine recreation, and maintaining a strong connection to the state and community it serves. For those who value tradition, challenge, and unfiltered mountain beauty, Cannon represents an experience that is as meaningful as it is memorable.

A MOUNTAIN SHAPED BY HISTORY

Cannon Mountain’s legacy stretches back nearly a century, making it one of the oldest ski areas in North America. Its development in the 1930s helped establish New Hampshire as a cornerstone of East Coast skiing, with early trail cutting and lift systems paving the way for generations of winter sports enthusiasts.

As part of Franconia Notch State Park, Cannon has always occupied a unique position within the region. Its operation as a state-run mountain reflects a broader commitment to conservation, public access, and responsible recreation. This connection to the state is not merely administrative—it is foundational to the identity of the mountain itself.

Over the decades, Cannon has played a significant role in shaping the culture of skiing in New England. From early lift innovations to its reputation for challenging terrain, the mountain has remained a benchmark for what alpine skiing can be when it is guided by both tradition and purpose.

Today, that legacy continues through ongoing stewardship, thoughtful maintenance, and a dedication to preserving the character that has defined Cannon for generations.

A LEGACY WRITTEN IN LANDMARKS

No feature captures Cannon’s place in skiing history quite like the Aerial Tramway. First opened in 1938, it was the first passenger-carrying tramway in North America, a milestone that helped define the early days of American skiing and cemented Cannon’s reputation as a pioneer in the sport.

Nearly nine decades later, that legacy continues to move forward: a replacement project is currently underway, and once complete, Cannon will become the first ski area in North America to reach a third-generation tram. Beyond its engineering significance, the tram base has long served as a gathering place, where skiers and riders pause to commune with one another, swap stories of the day’s runs, and form lasting connections built on a shared passion for skiing and for the White Mountains.

Cannon’s identity is also inseparable from one of New Hampshire’s most cherished symbols: the Old Man of the Mountain. Once visible in profile along the cliffs above Franconia Notch, the Old Man remains an enduring emblem of the state, still found today on New Hampshire’s license plates and its commemorative quarter. His legacy is woven into the character of Franconia Notch State Park itself, a place so deeply ingrained in New Hampshire’s identity that it lends an unmistakable sense of authenticity to the skiing experience found at Cannon—one shaped not just by challenging terrain, but by the history and heritage of the land it calls home.

TERRAIN THAT INSPIRES AND CHALLENGES

Cannon Mountain is perhaps best known for its terrain—diverse, dynamic, and often demanding. With a vertical drop of over 2,000 feet and a wide range of trails, the mountain offers something for every level of skier or snowboarder, while maintaining a reputation as one of the more challenging destinations in the region.

Advanced skiers are drawn to Cannon for its steeper pitches, natural snow features, and variable conditions that reward skill and adaptability. At the same time, the mountain’s thoughtfully designed trail system ensures that beginners and intermediate visitors have ample opportunity to build confidence and explore.

A standout feature is the Tuckerbrook Family Area, often described as Cannon’s “biggest little mountain.” Easily accessible from the base, Tuckerbrook provides a welcoming environment for those new to the sport, with a collection of green and blue trails, dedicated lifts, and a layout designed to support progression.

This balance between challenge and accessibility is a defining aspect of Cannon’s appeal. It allows families, individuals, and groups with varying skill levels to share the mountain experience while pursuing their own paths of growth and enjoyment.

LEARNING AND PROGRESSION

Cannon Mountain places a strong emphasis on learning, offering a comprehensive range of snowsports programs designed to support skiers and riders at every stage.

Group and private lessons are available for participants as young as three years old, creating early opportunities to engage with the sport in a structured and supportive environment. For younger participants, the Junior Development Program provides a more immersive experience, helping children build both technical skills and confidence over the course of the season.

Adult programs are equally robust, including seasonal offerings tailored specifically for men and women. These programs foster not only skill development but also a sense of community, allowing participants to connect with others who share similar goals and interests.

This commitment to education reinforces Cannon’s broader philosophy: that skiing and snowboarding are lifelong pursuits, best enjoyed through continuous learning and shared experiences.

BEYOND THE SLOPES: A NATURAL PLAYGROUND

While Cannon Mountain is widely recognized for its winter offerings, its location within Franconia Notch State Park provides access to a much broader range of outdoor experiences throughout the year.

The surrounding landscape is rich with natural landmarks, including iconic sites such as Flume Gorge, Echo Lake, and The Basin. These destinations offer opportunities for hiking, swimming, photography, and quiet exploration, allowing visitors to engage with the environment in ways that extend far beyond skiing.

Seasonal transitions bring new perspectives to the mountain. In warmer months, the region becomes a hub for outdoor recreation, from scenic trails to camping experiences at nearby sites such as Lafayette Place Campground. The changing foliage in autumn adds another dimension, drawing visitors to witness the vibrant colors that define New England’s fall season.

This integration of mountain and park creates a seamless experience, where recreation and conservation coexist in a way that feels both intentional and inspiring.

A MEASURED APPROACH TO GATHERINGS AND EVENTS

Cannon Mountain’s approach to events reflects its broader philosophy of balance and preservation. While it does not operate as a large-scale event venue, the mountain accommodates smaller gatherings through special use permits, allowing guests to celebrate meaningful occasions within a unique and scenic setting.

This includes intimate weddings and private events held within Franconia Notch State Park, where the natural surroundings provide a striking backdrop. By maintaining a measured approach to such gatherings, Cannon ensures that these experiences remain respectful of the environment and aligned with the character of the park.

In addition to private events, the mountain supports a variety of community and recreational activities throughout the year. These events, often rooted in local culture and outdoor traditions, contribute to a sense of continuity and shared experience.

SUPPORTING COMMUNITY THROUGH PRESENCE As a state-operated facility, Cannon Mountain approaches community support in a way that differs from privately owned resorts. While direct financial contributions may be limited, the mountain plays an active role in supporting local, environmental, and state initiatives through the use of its space and collaborative efforts. This includes partnerships with organizations such as the New England Ski Museum, which helps preserve and share the rich history of skiing in the region. By providing a physical setting for education and engagement, Cannon contributes to a deeper understanding of the sport and its cultural significance. Additionally, the mountain’s presence within the state park system supports broader conservation efforts, ensuring that the surrounding environment remains protected and accessible for future generations.

A DISTINCTIVE IDENTITY

What sets Cannon Mountain apart is not a single feature, but rather the way its many elements come together to create a cohesive and meaningful experience. Its history, terrain, educational programs, and connection to Franconia Notch State Park all contribute to an identity that feels both grounded and enduring. Visitors to Cannon often find that the experience extends beyond the technical aspects of skiing. There is a sense of place that resonates throughout the mountain—a feeling that each run, each view, and each moment is part of something larger. This perspective is reinforced by the mountain’s commitment to authenticity. Rather than chasing trends, Cannon continues to focus on what it has always done well: providing a genuine alpine experience rooted in tradition, stewardship, and respect for the natural world.

LOOKING AHEAD

As the landscape of mountain resorts continues to evolve, Cannon Mountain remains steady in its approach. Future developments are guided by the same principles that have defined it for decades, ensuring that any changes enhance rather than alter the core experience.

This consistency is part of what makes Cannon so compelling. In a world where many destinations are constantly reinventing themselves, there is value in a place that understands its identity and builds upon it with care.

For visitors, this means returning to a mountain that feels familiar yet continually rewarding—one that offers both challenge and comfort, innovation and tradition.

A CORNERSTONE OF THE MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCE

Within the broader context of Destination 93, Cannon Mountain serves as a cornerstone—a destination that anchors the region with its history, integrity, and natural beauty. It offers a perspective that complements the diversity of experiences found across neighboring resorts, contributing depth and balance to the overall journey.

Whether navigating its storied trails, exploring the surrounding park, or simply taking in the sweeping views from the summit, visitors will discover that Cannon provides more than recreation. It offers a connection to something enduring—a reminder of the power of place, and the lasting appeal of a mountain shaped by both nature and time.

DESTINATION 93

Tenney Mountain

A RETURN TO AUTHENTIC MOUNTAIN LIVING:

THE REVIVAL OF TENNEY MOUNTAIN

In a region known for its iconic peaks and well-established ski destinations, Tenney Mountain offers something increasingly rare: a sense of authenticity rooted in history, community, and a genuine love for the outdoors. Located in Plymouth, New Hampshire, this independently owned resort is not simply reemerging—it is redefining what a modern mountain experience can look like while staying true to its legacy.

For those drawn to the White Mountains for both recreation and connection, Tenney Mountain represents a thoughtful balance between past and future. It is a place where heritage informs progress, and where every investment is made with the intention of fostering long-term community, accessibility, and year-round enjoyment.

A LEGACY THAT SHAPES THE PRESENT

Tenney Mountain’s story begins long before modern lifts and snowmaking systems were introduced. In the 1930s, skiers carved their own paths down the mountain, often following logging roads to experience the terrain in its most natural form. With the introduction of direct train service from Boston to Plymouth in 1932, the area quickly grew into a sought-after destination for winter sports enthusiasts. The mountain’s formal development took shape in 1959, when 10th Mountain Division veterans Sam Hall and John French returned from World War II and brought their vision to life. Their work cutting the first official trails established the foundation for what would become a beloved New England ski destination. Just a few years later, the installation of the “Hornet Double” chairlift in 1964 further enhanced accessibility and remains a defining feature of the mountain to this day. Over time, Tenney expanded with additional lifts and trails, building a reputation for its classic terrain and welcoming atmosphere. However, like many independently operated resorts, it experienced periods of closure under changing ownership. Rather than marking an end, these challenges ultimately set the stage for a meaningful revival.

A NEW CHAPTER OF GROWTH AND INVESTMENT

The 2022–23 season marked a pivotal turning point in Tenney Mountain’s history. Under new ownership, the resort entered a period of renewed energy and strategic investment, guided by a clear vision: to restore Tenney as both a premier recreational destination and a central hub for the surrounding community. Significant improvements have already been made, including the introduction of a state-of-the-art snowmaking system designed to enhance reliability throughout the season. Upgrades to lifts and continued trail development have further elevated the overall experience, ensuring that Tenney remains competitive while preserving its distinct character. These efforts are not simply about modernization. Instead, they reflect a broader commitment to sustainability, accessibility, and thoughtful growth—ensuring that the mountain can be enjoyed for generations to come.

CLASSIC TERRAIN WITH ROOM TO EXPLORE

One of Tenney Mountain’s defining features is its terrain. Spanning approximately 130 skiable acres with a vertical drop of 1,500 feet, the mountain offers a layout that feels both approachable and engaging.

Its narrow, winding trails are emblematic of classic New England skiing, providing a sense of challenge and discovery that appeals to both seasoned skiers and those looking to build confidence.

Unlike larger resorts that often prioritize wide, high-traffic runs, Tenney’s trails encourage a more immersive experience. Skiers and snowboarders can navigate the mountain at their own pace, enjoying the natural contours and varied terrain that make each run feel distinct.

Looking ahead, plans to expand into more than 500 additional acres of skiable terrain signal an exciting future. This growth will allow Tenney to welcome a broader range of visitors while maintaining the qualities that make it unique.

EXPERIENCES FOR EVERY SEASON

While skiing remains central to Tenney Mountain’s identity, the resort is steadily evolving into a true four-season destination. By expanding its offerings beyond winter sports, Tenney is creating opportunities for visitors to engage with the landscape year-round.

Future plans include mountain biking trails, hiking routes, ziplining experiences, and lake-based activities, all designed to showcase the natural beauty of the surrounding region. This diversification not only enhances the visitor experience but also supports the long-term vitality of the local economy.

Even during the winter months, there is more to explore than traditional alpine skiing. The terrain park provides a dynamic environment for freestyle riders, featuring a variety of jumps and rails suitable for different skill levels. For families and groups, the tubing hill offers a welcoming and accessible way to enjoy the snow, creating moments of shared excitement that extend beyond the slopes.

Another distinctive feature is the Ice Trail, an experience that invites guests to glide through a wooded setting on skates. This unique addition highlights Tenney’s commitment to offering activities that are both memorable and inclusive, catering to a wide range of interests and abilities.

A PLACE TO GATHER

At the heart of Tenney Mountain is a strong sense of community, one that extends beyond recreation to include social connection, creativity, and shared experiences. The Lodge at Tenney serves as a central gathering space, where visitors can warm up by a stone fireplace, enjoy thoughtfully prepared meals, and take part in the time-honored tradition of après-ski.

Throughout the year, the resort hosts a diverse calendar of events that reflect its inclusive and community-driven spirit. From alpine ski races and rail jams to live music performances and seasonal celebrations, these events create opportunities for guests and locals alike to come together.

The emphasis on arts and culture is particularly notable. By incorporating live music, local food, and craft beverages into its programming, Tenney fosters an environment that feels both vibrant and approachable. It is a place where recreation and creativity intersect, offering something meaningful for visitors of all backgrounds.

SUPPORTING COMMUNITY THROUGH ACTION

Tenney Mountain’s commitment to community extends beyond its immediate guests. Philanthropy plays a central role in its mission, with a focus on supporting local initiatives and expanding access to outdoor experiences.

One of the resort’s most impactful partnerships is with Youth Enrichment Services (YES), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing outdoor and leadership opportunities for young people from Boston. Each year, Tenney welcomes groups through donated lift tickets, equipment rentals, and tubing experiences, helping to remove barriers that might otherwise limit access to the sport.

These efforts reflect a broader belief that the benefits of outdoor recreation—confidence, connection, and personal growth— should be accessible to all. By investing in programs like YES, Tenney is not only strengthening its community but also helping to inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts.

LEADERSHIP WITH PURPOSE

The revitalization of Tenney Mountain is closely tied to the vision and leadership of CEO Steven P. Kelly. With more than three decades of experience across multiple industries, his approach combines strategic insight with a deep appreciation for community values. Originally from Dorchester, Massachusetts, Kelly developed a strong connection to New Hampshire through years of visiting the region with his family. That personal connection ultimately informed his decision to acquire Tenney Mountain in 2022, recognizing both its potential and its significance within the local landscape. Under his leadership, the resort has embraced a clear mission: to serve as a catalyst for economic growth, a hub for recreation and culture, and a lasting legacy for future generations. This long-term perspective is evident in every aspect of Tenney’s development, from infrastructure investments to community partnerships.

LOOKING AHEAD

As Tenney Mountain continues to evolve, its vision remains grounded in the principles that have defined it for decades: authenticity, accessibility, and a genuine connection to place. While the resort is embracing growth and innovation, it is doing so in a way that respects its history and prioritizes the needs of its community.

For visitors, this means an experience that feels both elevated and approachable—where modern amenities coexist with the charm and character of a classic New England mountain. For residents and returning guests, it represents continuity, a sense that Tenney is not only back but moving forward with purpose.

A DISTINCTIVE MOUNTAIN EXPERIENCE In an era where many destinations are defined by scale and convenience, Tenney Mountain stands apart by offering something more enduring. It is a place where the experience is shaped not just by the terrain, but by the people, the history, and the shared commitment to creating something meaningful. Whether carving down its winding trails, gathering with friends at the lodge, or simply taking in the surrounding landscape, visitors will find that Tenney offers more than recreation. It offers a sense of belonging—an invitation to be part of a community that values connection as much as it does adventure. As part of the broader Destination 93 experience, Tenney Mountain contributes a unique and essential perspective: that the future of resort living lies not only in innovation, but in preserving the qualities that make each place truly special.

THE BEST DAY TRIPS THROUGH THE WHITE MOUNTAINS

New Hampshire’s White Mountains aren’t just a destination; they’re a launching pad for some of the most breathtaking drives in New England. Whether you’re based at Owl’s Nest Resort, Tenney Mountain, or Cannon, a day trip through this scenic terrain is one of the best ways to experience the region’s dramatic beauty without ever leaving the car.

THE KANCAMAGUS HIGHWAY

No list of White Mountains day trips is complete without the Kancamagus Highway, affectionately known as “the Kanc.” Stretching 34.5 miles between Lincoln and Conway, this National Scenic Byway winds through dense forest, past cascading waterfalls, and up to sweeping overlooks like Sugar Hill and C.L. Graham Wangan Ground. Fall is peak season here, when the hardwoods erupt into color, but the drive is stunning in every season, even in winter, when snow-draped pines frame the road in quiet white.

FRANCONIA NOTCH

Just west of the Kanc, Franconia Notch offers a more compact but equally dramatic route. Flanked by pink granite cliffs, the Notch is home to Cannon Mountain, the Flume Gorge, and the Basin, along with easy access to Cascade Brook’s waterfalls. The drive through the Notch is short enough to pair with a hike or a stop at the aerial tramway, making it an easy add-on to any Kanc excursion.

THE LAKES REGION LOOP

Head south and the mountains give way to New Hampshire’s glittering Lakes Region, where three lakes anchor some of the state’s most popular scenic drives. Squam Lake, made famous by On Golden Pond, offers quiet, winding roads shaded by old-growth trees and dotted with lake views. Newfound Lake, one of the cleanest lakes in the state, provides a more rustic, under-the-radar loop past small beaches and forested shoreline. And Lake Winnipesaukee, the largest of the three, rewards drivers with postcard views from routes like Route 109 and the road through Wolfeboro and Meredith, alongside classic New England lake towns perfect for a lunch stop.

PLAN YOUR ROUTE

Many visitors combine these drives into a full day: start early on the Kanc, cut through Franconia Notch by midday, and finish with a sunset loop around Winnipesaukee or Squam. However you piece it together, these roads offer some of the most rewarding scenery in New Hampshire, proof that sometimes the best part of a mountain getaway is the journey itself.

NEW HAMPSHIRE’S WILD HEART

THE NATURAL WONDERS OF THE WHITE MOUNTAINS AND BEYOND

Discover New Hampshire

The Rise of the White Mountains

Nestled in northern New Hampshire, the White Mountains have long been considered a national treasure. The spectacular peaks garner attention for their dramatic appearance, while the surrounding forests are dense with greenery and full of winding trails. This scenic, tranquil area is as popular for its ecological diversity as its unspoiled beauty.

THE RISE OF THE WHITE MOUNTAINS

Home to some of the most rugged terrain in the northeast, the White Mountains are part of the northern Appalachian range. Beautiful year-round, the region has always been popular - but its diversity and recreation-friendly environment have only increased its appeal. Locals know it as the go-to spot for winter activities, including cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and even sleigh rides.

Franconia Notch, Pinkham Notch, and Crawford Notch all provide access to the White Mountains, and each presents the elevated style and beauty of the region. Franconia Notch, for example, is edged in pink granite and offers proximity to everything from the Cascade Brook waterfalls to the scenic Kancamagus Highway. To protect the area's integrity, a variety of conservation efforts must be employed.

WILDLIFE AND CONSERVATION EFFORTS

The White Mountains are home to an impressive variety of wildlife. Black bears can be seen, along with moose, coyotes, foxes, and beavers. Ranger stations and visitor centers throughout the White Mountains are on hand to help ensure the natural environment is undisturbed by visitors. A delicate ecosystem supports the wellbeing of both this wildlife and the beautiful environment, much of which is led by the community's commitment and dedication.

The practice of "sustainable recreation" is key to its widespread health. The more people who visit the region, the greater the need for clean and vital resources. Everything from climate change to overpopulation can take its toll on the land's integrity, affecting water quality and posing a threat to longstanding forests. It's for these reasons that the National Forest Foundation developed a series of projects in an effort to protect these valuable resources. For example, the White Mountain National Forest has a wildlife management plan that is committed to maintaining 1% of the forest as wildlife openings which are not open to the public but provide space for animals to eat, sleep, and rest. As the forest is home to federally listed endangered species, this habitation is essential.

MOUNT WASHINGTON: THE NORTHEAST'S CROWN JEWEL

At 6,288 feet, Mount Washington is the tallest peak in the northeastern United States. It's also one of the most memorable natural wonders in New England. The summit, known for its unpredictable weather conditions, has recorded some of the strongest winds ever measured, including a historic gust of 231 miles measured in 1934.

For all of these challenges, Mount Washington is remarkably easy to access. The Mount Washington Auto Road offers a scenic and thrilling drive to the summit, while the historic Mount Washington Cog Railway provides a slower-paced journey at select times of the year. Those who seek a more immersive experience can enjoy a rewarding hike on the Tuckerman Ravine Trail. While it starts off relatively simple, the journey grows more challenging toward its tail end.

From Owl's Nest Resort, the trip to Mount Washington is one to remember. The spectacular scenery makes for a picturesque ride through Franconia Notch and beyond the Presidential Range.

FLUME GORGE: GEOLOGICAL BEAUTY

Easily one of the region's most marveled geological features, Flume Gorge was carved by glaciers over centuries. Situated in Franconia Notch State Park at the foot of Mount Liberty, the gorge measures some 800 feet and features granite walls that span from 70 to 90 feet in height. With its rushing waterfalls, mossy rocks, abundant flowers, and wooden walkways, Flume Gorge draws thousands of visitors to experience its unique beauty.

The area is also home to a well-kept, two-mile loop that safely guides visitors through the gorge. It's a self-guided journey with some stairs and some occasional uphill maneuvering, but it is otherwise a relatively straightforward and rewarding journey. On the way, spot famed landmarks like Avalanche Falls and Sentinel Pine Bridge and Pool. The latter, part of the Pemi River, formed during the Ice Age and is well worth the visit for its astonishing history. Other highlights of the journey include the Liberty Gorge mountain stream and the thrilling Wolf Den, through which visitors must crawl to weave their way through rocks.

Those who reside at Owl's Nest Resort can conveniently enjoy Flume Gorge any time, as it's less than a 30-minute drive away from the premises. No matter the time of year, this geological site continuously impresses with everything from summer's beautiful greenery to winter's frozen waterfalls.

BLENDING LUXURY AND NATURE

The White Mountains are as scenic as they are historic. From the towering summit of Mount Washington to the delicate beauty of Flume Gorge, the region is home to some of the state's most memorable natural wonders.

Those who seek a gentler winter activity, however, will find plenty of variety too. Ice skating on the state’s many frozen ponds and lakes makes for a serene experience. At Owl’s Nest Resort, skaters can glide over the ice on Lake Harold at a leisurely pace or even engage in an exhilarating ice hockey game if they prefer. SPRING 92

As temperatures rise, New Hampshire comes alive in the spring with an array of outdoor adventures and seasonal traditions.

March marks the return of New Hampshire Maple Month, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the state’s rich maple sugaring heritage. Enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides through groves of maple trees, tour local sugarhouses, and learn about the process of transforming sap into pure New Hampshire maple syrup.

Hiking is another favorite spring activity, with trails throughout the White Mountain region offering options for every skill level. Popular destinations in White Mountain National Forest and Crawford Notch State Park showcase breathtaking scenery, including waterfalls, mountain vistas, and emerging spring foliage. Among them is Arethusa Falls, widely recognized as one of New Hampshire’s most impressive waterfalls, cascading approximately 140 feet into the valley below.

Spring is also one of the best times to get out on the water. As snowmelt feeds the Pemigewasset River, conditions become ideal for kayaking, canoeing, tubing, and other river activities. The river’s winding course provides a unique perspective on New Hampshire’s natural beauty, while anglers can enjoy opportunities to catch trout, bass, and other freshwater species. Numerous access points along the river make it easy to enjoy a day on the water.

Residents and guests of Owl’s Nest Resort enjoy exceptional access to these outdoor experiences. The resort features approximately two miles of Pemigewasset River frontage on its Thornton property, along with an additional mile of river frontage at the Owl’s Nest Vineyard Course in Ashland. This direct connection to the river provides convenient access to fishing, kayaking, tubing, and other recreational activities throughout the spring and summer months. The resort also offers equipment rentals and guided excursions, making it easy to explore the river and surrounding landscape. Whether seeking adventure on the water or a relaxing day immersed in nature, Owl’s Nest Resort offers an ideal base for experiencing the best of spring in New Hampshire.

SUMMER

New Hampshire summers naturally encourage relaxation and adventure in equal measure.

Golf is one of the area’s most popular pastimes, thanks to the region’s scenic landscapes and exceptional courses. Owl’s Nest Resort offers two outstanding 18-hole championship courses: the Nicklaus Resort Course in Thornton and the Owl’s Nest Vineyard Course in Ashland, located just 10 miles south and approximately 20 minutes closer to Boston. Both courses showcase breathtaking mountain views, rolling terrain, and beautifully maintained grounds, creating memorable experiences for golfers of all skill levels. Golf enthusiasts can also take advantage of practice facilities and golf simulators to keep their game sharp throughout the season. Looking ahead, summer 2027 will bring the opening of The Hoot, a new par-3 nine-hole course that surrounds the scenic shores of Lake Harold, offering a fun and approachable golf experience for players of all abilities.

SUMMER

The season is also ideal for those who enjoy racquet sports. Tennis remains a local favorite, with long summer days and mild temperatures creating the perfect setting for a match. At Owl’s Nest Resort, residents have access to well-maintained tennis courts suitable for both beginners and experienced players. From red clay courts designed for slowerpaced play to platform tennis and pickleball courts, all complemented by stunning mountain views, there is an option for every type of player. Lessons, clinics, and tournaments provide additional opportunities to improve skills and enjoy friendly competition.

Summertime on the trails offers the chance to experience some of New Hampshire’s most iconic scenery from a unique perspective. Whether hiking the 4,000-foot peaks of the White Mountain National Forest or biking through nearby state parks, outdoor enthusiasts will find endless opportunities for exercise, exploration, and peaceful moments in nature.

For a refreshing change of pace, a narrated cruise offers a fun and educational way to learn about the region’s history, wildlife, and natural beauty while enjoying the cool summer air.

Outdoor activities and festivals abound throughout New Hampshire during the warmest months of the year. Music, food, and the arts are all a major part of the state’s culture, and these special multi-day events bring the best of each to visitors annually. Thornton, for example, is home to the state’s largest blues event, the White Mountain Boogie N’ Blues Festival. For decades, New Hampshire has also hosted beloved events such as the New Hampshire Music Festival in Plymouth, the New England Brewfest, the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, and the Prescott Park Arts Festival.

FALL

For unparalleled scenery, fall brings a mesmerizing and virtually incomparable type of beauty to New Hampshire.

At every turn, a kaleidoscope of colorful foliage adds depth and drama to a landscape, framing a waterfall or making an already beautiful drive even more scenic. The White Mountains brim with fiery notes of orange, red, and yellow, creating a living portrait that's well worth a hike or stopping to take some photographs.

Those who prefer cycling can find an array of pretty routes that are ideal for a fall foliage ride. The rural roads and mountain paths, whether at a state park or the White Mountain National Forest, provide cyclists with a variety of terrains that range from gentle to challenging — and all are framed by the colorful foliage for which New Hampshire is so widely known.

Cool-weather hikes are always a smart choice near Owl's Nest Resort, which is steps away from some of the best trails in the state. Among those is the four-mile Smarts Brook Trailhead, which provides lovely water views, and the shorter, family-friendly West Rattlesnake Mountain Trailhead, which offers views of the entire Lakes Region.

The closest of all is the Welch-Dickey Trailhead, a 4.4-mile trek offering exquisite views (and even some rocks to scramble). If viewing epic foliage is the goal, it's worth spending time in the White Mountains and the Lakes Region during the first three weeks of October — these are prime viewing seasons and present the perfect opportunity to see the leaves in their most colorful glory.

Beyond the trails, there are other ways to enjoy the crisp weather near the resort. Apple picking, for example, is a wonderful outdoor activity that can involve all ages. Apple picking season in New Hampshire starts towards the end of summer and the start of fall, making it a fun and festive outing for those looking for something fun to do later in the season. After a morning walking around an orchard, reward yourself with an apple cider donut, a New Hampshire delicacy.

YEAR-ROUND OUTDOOR ADVENTURE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

New Hampshire offers no limit to fun, adventure, and sheer beauty. The outdoor activities here offer residents a wide range of options for adventure and relaxation, no matter the season. From skiing to kayaking and biking, there's always a good excuse to get outside and experience the best of the state. Owl's Nest Resort residents are never far from this action, whether the goal is to find some peace and solitude outdoors or an adrenaline-filled experience.

TOP CONSIDERATIONS FOR A RESORT LIFESTYLE

Moving anywhere is a major decision, but transitioning to a resort community offers an especially distinctive change of lifestyle. Combining luxury with natural beauty and the benefits of a close-knit environment, this way of living embraces everything from thoughtful amenities to a proper balance of practicality and leisure.

WHY RESIDE IN A RESORT COMMUNITY

In a vibrant resort community, luxury is not just expected, it's a way of life. Steps from the front door of any residence are a wealth of valuable amenities that promote everything from health and wellness to community. All these finer details contribute to a well-rounded lifestyle, and they're especially accessible in a mountain resort community. Beautiful conditions, crisp air, exquisite scenery, and a wealth of opportunities to explore the great outdoors create the ideal canvas for a vibrant and centered lifestyle.

Many resort communities are designed around convenience. For example, on-site dining facilities ensure residents are always just moments away from delicious dining options, so they don’t have to consistently travel to enjoy elite dining experiences. Resort communities are also safer, as they usually include heightened security features, such as security staff and gated entries. As resort communities are exclusive living areas, secluded from other neighborhoods, they typically have significantly lower crime rates than more metropolitan areas and have some restrictions in place that prevent unauthorized individuals from entering.

First-class amenities, like access to spas, pools, and fitness centers, to name but a few examples, are another draw to living in a resort community. Residents can enjoy a more leisure-focused, laid-back lifestyle when a variety of amenities and recreation facilities are within easy reach. Year-round, there are opportunities to delve deep into community life, connect with neighbors, and discover something new. Whether soaking in a heated pool on a brisk fall evening or relaxing at a sports bar after a tennis match, there's room for all kinds of engaging activities at a resort community.

Connection is perhaps one of the greatest advantages of life in a well-kept community where every day has the potential to feel like a vacation. Meeting locals, connecting with people who have similar interests, and developing an active social life that is easy to maintain due to sheer proximity make life in a mountain resort community especially fun and interesting. Community events can even serve as ice-breaking opportunities for new residents to meet others, so it’s easy to immerse yourself in a new social scene.

THE ARCHITECTURAL STANDOUTS While the feeling of community is undeniably a major highlight, resort properties also stand out for their creativity and thoughtful designs. In fact, many of the homes are architectural wonders. Some seamlessly bridge the gap between the inside and outside, creating a harmonious connection with features like large windows that flood rooms with natural light and provide unparalleled views throughout the day. There's also every chance that there will be a greater variety of home styles in a resort community. A charming cottage, for example, may be just what a couple or a small family hopes for when they decide to move. Others may prefer a spacious and contemporary property that will accommodate larger groups complete with state-of-the-art amenities. There may be homes overlooking the water or properties that provide unobstructed mountain views. With these kinds of options, families of every size and people from nearly all walks of life can find a place to call their own. What if a NEW perspective changed everything. See yourself differently, try things you never thought you could, and grow with people who push you forward. BENEFITS OF MOVING TO NEW HAMPSHIRE

Being an exquisite New England state, New Hampshire is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful areas in the nation. The Granite State's natural elegance is unmatched, along with its breathtaking White Mountains, its many plush beaches, and its dense forests. It's an outdoor lover's paradise, but even those who don't venture outside too much will appreciate the brisk air and scenic beauty.

In addition to this, New Hampshire residents don't have to worry about paying a state sales tax or income tax. Being uniquely unburdened during tax season contributes to a lower cost of living, making life much easier and more affordable for many. Larger purchases, whether a vehicle or a piece of furniture, can be very accessible for those who may otherwise avoid it because of the tax burden involved.

That kind of financial freedom may also afford the opportunity to take more trips throughout the state — and there are many scenic drives to enjoy, especially throughout the gorgeous Lakes Region. The state also boasts a very rich and fascinating history, and it can be humbling to explore the state and its many noteworthy attractions.

MAKING THE MOVE Moving to a mountain resort community is no small decision — but it might be the best investment you can make in your overall quality of life. Carefully crafted amenities, stunning views, varied architecture, and a vibrant community create an incomparable living environment. Getting Here and Beyond

A SEAMLESS JOURNEY TO NEW HAMPSHIRE’S WHITE MOUNTAIN

Few New England regions rival the White Mountains for sheer beauty and splendor. As one of New Hampshire's most popular destinations, it's effortlessly accessible by car, rail, and air. As such a well-connected location, the region encourages seamless travel via multiple regional and national airline services, as well as private flight options.

EFFORTLESS AIR TRAVEL

Those traveling by air will find it especially easy to reach the White Mountains. The area is serviced by several key airports, which offers travelers flexibility and efficiency. Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) is the closest major commercial airport, situated about an hour’s drive from Owl’s Nest Resort. It offers direct flights from most major hubs across the country, so it's an ideal gateway for those traveling to and from the area. Another option is Portsmouth International Airport (PSM), which is about two hours away.

Another option is Portland International Airport (PWM), situated in Maine, and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). Both of these are within two hours of the White Mountains region. They have more extensive domestic and international connections, ensuring that anyone can comfortably access the area via a convenient route.

Those who favor a more intimate travel experience may wish to consider a private aircraft. A few regional airports accommodate this option, making accessibility even broader for travelers who are more comfortable in smaller planes or who just want to travel with greater discretion. Lebanon Municipal Airport (LEB) and Mount Washington Regional Airport (HIE), both around an hour’s drive from Owl’s Nest Resort, are among the most convenient local options. Private flyers can take advantage of a smaller hub instead of dealing with the hassle of a larger commercial layout.

SEAMLESS GROUND TRANSPORTATION

Once on the ground, there are many convenient transportation options to keep in mind. The highways in the region are known for their exquisite scenery but are also remarkably well maintained to make for very scenic, smooth drives to your chosen destination.

Interstate 93 is the primary artery into the region, offering a direct route to Boston and points beyond. The Kancamagus Highway, widely considered one of the most picturesque roads in all of New England, gives travelers an option to experience mountain life from an incredible vantage point. Going this way is a must for anyone who appreciates the value of a memorable journey.

Another option is to hire a car service. There are several choices, including luxury vehicles and chauffeur-driven cars. These are suitable for anyone who prefers to travel in complete comfort and allow someone else to lead the way. Ride-share services also operate throughout the area, making transport from one area to the next simple and seamless. For impressive local drives, the Franconia Notch Parkway and the Mount Washington Auto Road both offer unmatched views.

THE WORLD AT YOUR FINGERTIPS

Whether arriving by commercial flight, private plane, or car service, there are many easy ways to reach the White Mountains. Not only is travel to the region simple, but it's also scenic, with tremendous views from both land and air, leaving a lasting impression.
