Summer in Whistler has a rhythm of its own. Early mornings on the course, where the air is still cool and the mountains frame every fairway. Midday mountain bike rides or a quiet hike into the alpine, with lakes and sweeping views along the way. Long afternoons stretch into evenings on the patio, a glass of wine in hand as the sun begins to set. A pace that feels intentional, without ever needing to rush. With a collection of world-class golf courses and mountain bike trails throughout the region, Whistler offers something rare. A resort lifestyle that balances activity with ease. For those who spend time here, it becomes less of a destination and more of a place where you belong. Our History

Since opening in the fall of 1989 as Chateau Whistler Resort, Fairmont Chateau Whistler has been an integral part of Canada’s most celebrated hospitality legacy. Originally developed by Canadian Pacific Hotels, a division of the historic Canadian Pacific Railway, the resort continues a tradition that began more than a century ago with the creation of grand landmark hotels designed to encourage tourism and showcase Canada’s extraordinary landscapes. Alongside renowned properties such as Fairmont Banff Springs, Fairmont Empress, and Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac, the hotel was envisioned as a destination that connects travelers to some of the country’s most spectacular natural settings. As Whistler emerged as a world-class mountain destination, the resort quickly became a cornerstone of the community and a premier retreat for visitors from around the globe. In 1997, Fairmont Chateau Whistler underwent a significant expansion, adding 221 guest rooms, enhanced resort amenities, and more than 12,000 sq. ft. of additional space. This transformation elevated the property into the grand alpine resort guests recognize today while preserving the warmth, character, and sense of place that defined its original vision.

Today, Fairmont Chateau Whistler seamlessly blends timeless elegance with modern mountain adventure. From its distinctive chateau-inspired architecture and exceptional hospitality to its unrivaled location at the base of Blackcomb Mountain, the resort continues to create memorable experiences while honoring a rich heritage spanning generations of Canadian travel.

A Day, a Dinner, a Lifetime...

A DAY, A DINNER, A LIFETIME... 58 EXPERIENCES

Fairmont Chateau Whistler Way

Every memorable destination has a rhythm. In Whistler, summer arrives on mountain breezes, alpine blooms, and mornings that begin before the valley fully wakes. The village stirs slowly under a sky already pale with early light, and somewhere above, the peaks catch the sun long before it reaches the streets below. This is a place built on arrival, from the trails, from the lakeshore, from the quiet hush of a gondola ride, and every arrival here is met with the same instinct: slow down, come inside, feel welcome.

A Day, a Dinner, a Lifetime...

Morning: Into the Rainforest

Morning: Into the Rainforest

The day begins on foot along the Alpine Brew Walk, a rainforest trail beneath old-growth cedar, a Portobello coffee in hand and that sharp, sweet West Coast air setting the pace.

Midday: Peaks and Panoramas

From the village, the journey continues up Whistler Mountain for sightseeing and an alpine picnic with panoramic views. The gondola linking these peaks holds a Guinness World Record of its own, a small reminder this town doesn’t do things by halves.

For something quieter, our private tours venture beyond the village to hidden forests, remote lakes, and trails away from the crowds, led by our Fairmont Whistler Experience Guides with deep local knowledge. The Ancient Cedars hike winds through old-growth rainforest to the oldest trees in Whistler, while the trek to Crater Rim opens onto a lake cradled inside an extinct volcano.

A Day, a Dinner, a Lifetime...

Afternoon: Life on the Lake

Whistler's lakes are at their finest in summer, and there is no wrong way to spend time on them: a lake loop tour, a paddleboard drifting across still water, a swim, or a private boat outing for those wanting the water entirely to themselves.

62 EXPERIENCES

A Day, a Dinner, a Lifetime...

Evening: The Art of Culinary Excellence at The Clubhouse

The kitchen draws its instincts from the rhythms of the course and a deep respect for British Columbia’s seasonal bounty. The menu moves between comfort and craft: a steak frites here, a bowl of mushroom fettuccine there, each dish built around what the region provides. Artisanal cheeses, sustainably sourced seafood, and proteins raised across British Columbia finish each plate.

Dinner is timed to the fairways at dusk, served on the terrace as the light fades over the greens, unhurried and easy. Local mushrooms, folded into cream and roasted garlic, are a quiet signature of the region, finding their way onto the menu in dish after dish. It’s this marriage of ccourse-side ease and British Columbia’s seasonal ingredients that defines an evening at the Clubhouse.

EXPERIENCES

A Day, Personally Made

No two days here look quite the same, and that is very much the point. Whether a guest is traveling solo, hoping to make friends, arriving as part of a group with something to celebrate, or standing at the very beginning of a marriage, our concierge team works both physically and figuratively by their side, reviewing new trails, favorite tables, and the best alpenglow vantage points on our own days off, so every recommendation comes from genuine, firsthand knowledge rather than a script. Whistler has long been known for its mountains, but there is so much more here for those willing to be shown it.

This, in the end, is what Fairmont Chateau Whistler is really built on: not a fixed itinerary, but a place, a team — including three Les Clefs d’Or concierges, the only such team in Whistler — and a willingness to help every guest switch off, look up, and get back to nature, whether they’re here for a single unhurried summer day or the one day that changes everything.

Golden foliage and crisp alpine air settle over the mountains each fall. Sustainability

We are proud to collaborate with like-minded partners who share our vision for a greener future. Together with our local and international partners, we continue to innovate and implement sustainability initiatives that protect our natural environment and support our community.

Ensure Hive Future

Roughly 30,000 pollinator bees call our rooftop home here in Whistler. Creating a space for these bees helps to improve the biodiversity of Whistler Upper Village. The honey these bees produce is also used throughout the hotel across of our food & beverage program. If you would like to take a souvenir home, jars of honey are available for purchase in Portobello.

Soap For Hope

Leftover soap, hygiene products, and linens that would otherwise be discarded from guest rooms are donated to Soap For Hope Canada, a charity that delivers repurposed items to community facilities serving vulnerable people.

Food Waste

On-site, we use Orbisk, an AI-powered camera-and-scale system, to identify food waste, optimize inventory, and improve portioning. This prevention-first approach was implemented to significantly reduce waste and environmental impact.

Road to Net Zero

Fairmont Chateau Whistler has removed 57 guest-facing single-use plastics items. Reusable bottles, wooden keycards, recycling partnerships, and compostable takeout packaging reduce waste, while sustainable alternatives continue to replace unavoidable plastics wherever possible.

The Curated Weekend

DESIGNING A WHISTLER ESCAPE FOR EVERY GUEST

A weekend in Whistler can feel like many vacations in one. That’s because Whistler defies categorization: an outdoor adventure mecca for hikers, a cozy getaway for couples, a family-friendly mountain town, and a cultural hub in the heart of the Garibaldi ranges. The mountains don’t ask their guests to choose between excitement and stillness; travelers to this part of the world can have both. Through it all, Fairmont Chateau Whistler is a steady point where guests can enjoy alpine air, village strolls, expansive views, and bursts of adrenaline, all in quick succession.

A Romantic Getaway for Couples

For couples, Fairmont Chateau Whistler offers a chance to slow time. The scenery alone is enough to foster a sense of calm and connection, with the green fairways and lush, mountain-framed grounds setting the tone. It’s often best to start mornings gradually, ideally without a fixed itinerary.

A spa treatment at Vida Spa - a luxurious oasis complete with couples’ suites - is a perfect way to start the weekend on a restorative note. Then head into Whistler Village, where boutiques, cafés and galleries await. The Main Village, with its charming mountain architecture and pedestrian-only streets, offers endless places for couples to enjoy coffee, shop for books, jewelry and souvenirs, and indulge in a wine tasting or an elegant dinner.

In summer, couples who share a love of the outdoors might spend a day exploring the hiking trails that wind through the Coast Mountains, just as winter visitors take to the iconic ski slopes. Relish incredible views across the rugged slopes of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains aboard the PEAK 2 PEAK Gondola, which spans the two peaks. It’s a view best enjoyed near sunset. Shared Energy and Discovery for Families

Whistler offers families the perfect mix of planned activities and open, unstructured freedom. The Chateau serves as base camp for lakeside picnics, forest hikes, and our Lake Loop E-Bike Tour, winding past Whistler’s turquoise lakes. Paddleboard at Alta Lake beneath snow-capped peaks, swim at Nita Lake, or skip stones along Alpha Lake’s quiet shore.

Families can wander Whistler Village at their own pace, past flower-lined cobblestone streets and busking musicians. Stop for gelato in the Main Village, or spend an afternoon at the Audain Art Museum, home to one of Canada’s largest collections of Indigenous Northwest Coast masks.

In the evening, return to the hotel and swim in the heated outdoor pool, with steam rising into the mountain air as the warm summer night settles around you.

Adventure and Renewal for Solo Travelers

Whistler beckons solo travelers seeking adventure and adrenaline-fueled experiences, but it’s equally alluring to those seeking quiet and renewal.

A peaceful, restorative experience is easy to find. Start the day with an early yoga class or enjoy coffee from Portobello. Spend an afternoon on the Chateau’s golf course, or exploring Indigenous storytelling, cedar-weaving demonstrations, and contemporary First Nations art exhibits at the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Center.

For adventure-focused travelers, the Chateau opens onto the region’s rugged, varied terrain. Start the day with a different kind of downhill thrill at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, then keep the momentum going with a zipline run through the forest canopy or a guided ATV excursion along mountain trails - all easily packed into one action-filled vacation.

Across experiences, Fairmont Chateau Whistler serves as a hub for couples, families, and solo travelers alike. It’s close to the literal and symbolic heart of Whistler, a point of stability in a dynamic place that offers both excitement and restoration.

FROM PEAK TO PATIO

THE ENDLESS GOLDEN DAYS OF WHISTLER

From sunrise summit trails to sun-drenched patio afternoons, summer in Whistler moves at its own golden pace — mornings spent tackling rugged alpine terrain, afternoons unwinding over a glass of rosé with Blackcomb Mountain as your backdrop. Located at the base of the mountain, the Chateau is the ideal home base for a summer that moves seamlessly between peak and patio. FAIRMONT CHATEAU WHISTLER 81

Adventure Awaits

Between trails, adventure fans can join a guided Bear Watching Tour into the forests surrounding the resort. Local guides draw on more than two decades of black bear tracking data to lead excursions to known feeding sites, and dens across the mountain. Along the way, the route winds through alpine meadows and old-growth forest, with red-tailed hawks and marmots often making an appearance of their own.

Those with more ambitious aspirations will find fulfillment on The Sasquatch Tour, North America’s longest zipline, which is more than 600 ft. high. Spanning an impressive 7,000 ft. between the region’s two peaks, this adrenaline-fueled experience reaches speeds of over 80 mph, delivering a heart-racing rush for even the most daring adventurers. A gentler-paced excursion awaits at the Crater Rim Tour. Cross the suspension bridge over Loggers Lake to discover the spectacular sights surrounding this extinct volcano at every turn.

For quieter moments, the on-site Vida Spa offers a holistic menu, eucalyptus steam rooms, a heated lap pool, and more: a tranquil mountainside sanctuary for a day of solitude or a shared escape. Head to Portobello for iced coffee and house-made pastries on the patio, then head to the sandy shores of one of Whistler’s pristine lakes for beach lounging in the foothills of the Coast Mountains. The possibilities are nearly endless, with an inviting rhythm made for long, golden days.

An Alpine Reset

RECLAIMING WELLNESS IN WHISTLER

Whistler has long been recognized for its alpine terrain, but the region’s wellness identity has deepened significantly in recent years. Set within the unceded territories of the Lil’wat Nation and the Squamish Nation, where old-growth cedar forests meet glacier-fed lakes and more than 48 kilometres of high-alpine trails, the area offers a wide range of restorative experiences that extend well beyond a traditional spa visit.

FAIRMONT CHATEAU WHISTLER 89

Hydrotherapy and the Thermal Cycle

The Scandinavian tradition of thermal cycling has become one of Whistler’s most sought-after wellness experiences.

The practice moves through three stages. Heat comes first, with a session in a wood-fired sauna or steam room that raises the body’s core temperature and relaxes the muscles. Next is a cold plunge into your personal ice bath, with temperatures low enough to send endorphins flooding through the system. The final stage is rest, a period of stillness to bring the nervous system back to equilibrium.

This full journey is available right here at Fairmont Whistler Health Club, where every stage of the cycle — heat, cold, and rest — has its own dedicated space for guests to move through the ritual from start to finish.

Alpine Hiking

Blackcomb Gondola, steps from the hotel, provides access to more than 50 km of high-alpine trails. On Blackcomb, the Overlord Trail threads past Blackcomb Lake before climbing to Decker Loop, a moderate to challenging route that skirts the edge of Garibaldi Provincial Park and ends at Decker Tarn, with views of the Overlord Glacier beyond. Whistler Mountain offers a different kind of spectacle each spring, when crews clear the snowbound Pika’s Traverse road to reveal the Snow Walls, corridors of packed snow rising well above head height that hikers can walk between before they melt into summer. Together, the two mountains offer alpine terrain for every appetite, from a brisk lake loop to a full day among glaciers.

Yoga Above the Treeline

Since 2025, a geometric dome has stood on the observation deck of Whistler Mountain’s Roundhouse Lodge. Inside, the Nourish Wellness Series hosts Hatha yoga, breathwork, and yoga nidra sessions with 360-degree views of the Coast Mountains.

The month-long program, held annually in June, draws internationally recognized practitioners and features more than 100 offerings across the valley, including movement sessions along the Valley Trail and mindfulness workshops at the Audain Art Museum.

Forest Bathing

The Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, invites a slower way of moving through the woods, guided by sight, sound, scent, and touch rather than any fixed destination.

In the Sea to Sky corridor, Indigenous-led guided walks offer a kindred tradition, sharing Squamish and Lil’wat ecological knowledge, from wildcrafted botanicals to the quiet relationships among species on the forest floor.

The two traditions meet in Whistler’s old-growth cedar and hemlock forests, where trees release phytoncides, natural compounds linked to lower cortisol and stronger immune response. These guided sessions are offered through Fairmont Whistler’s Experience Guide program.

Paddling Whistler’s Waterways

Whistler’s five lakes offer a quiet kind of wellness for paddlers who’d rather meet the sunrise than chase it. The largest, Alta Lake, is the natural starting point, with wide-open views of Whistler and Blackcomb. For something more dramatic, glacier-fed Green Lake pairs turquoise water with the hanging glacier on Wedge Mountain’s South Face. Closer to the village and Creekside, Lost Lake, Nita Lake, and Alpha Lake draw paddlers seeking solitude. Between Alta and Green runs the River of Golden Dreams, a gentle, glacier-fed current through old-growth forest where beavers and ducks keep to the banks.

Cold Water Immersion

Beyond the controlled cold plunge of a thermal circuit, Whistler’s glacier-fed lakes offer openwater immersion for those seeking something more elemental.

Green Lake and Cheakamus Lake remain cold enough year-round to trigger the physiological response that cold-exposure advocates seek: constricted blood vessels, a surge of endorphins, and reduced inflammation in fatigued muscles.

However, caution is warranted: those with cardiac conditions should consult a physician before taking the plunge.

Sound Healing

At Fairmont Chateau Whistler, sound healing sessions are held almost daily in the on-site Yoga Studio, included with the resort experience fee. Practitioners draw sustained tones from crystal singing bowls, gongs, and chimes while participants lie still, allowing the mind to settle into a meditative state.

The practice has a measurable physiological effect: singing bowl frequencies synchronize with the brain’s electrical activity, gradually shifting it from active beta states into the slower alpha and theta ranges associated with deep relaxation and meditation.

Restorative Spa Treatments and Recovery

An alpine environment places specific demands on the body: fatigued muscles after a day on the trails, stiffened joints from cold-water immersion, and skin dried by mountain air.

Whistler’s spa programs increasingly reflect these realities, pairing deep-tissue work and active-recovery techniques with locally sourced and Indigenous botanicals, such as wild rose, nettle, arnica, and lichen.

With so much to offer in curated programming and natural landscapes, visitors to Whistler can immerse themselves in experiences that foster a lasting sense of wellness long after they leave the mountains behind.

For a different vantage on the alpine terrain, guided ATV tours climb logging roads and backcountry trails above Whistler, reaching viewpoints inaccessible by car. The two-hour excursion covers varied terrain, from forest switchbacks to open ridgelines, with instruction included for first-time riders.

River of Golden Dreams

Paddlers can canoe or kayak the River of Golden Dreams, a scenic waterway connecting Alta Lake to Green Lake through wetlands and forest. The route typically takes two to three hours and requires basic steering experience. Be sure to bring a life jacket and wear it while on the water.

Whistler Farmers' Market

Held on summer weekends directly outside the resort, the Whistler Farmers' Market brings together local vendors selling fresh produce, artisan cheese, and baked goods, alongside handmade crafts and live music. It's a lively way to spend a morning without straying far from the hotel.

Ziptrek Ecotours

For a faster-paced perspective on the surrounding old-growth forest, Ziptrek Ecotours offers a series of zip lines strung between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Guided tours combine the thrill of the ride with commentary on the region's ecology and history.

FROM VACATION TO VOCATION YOUR GUIDE TO CALLING WHISTLER HOME 104 EXPERIENCES

You're unwinding in Whistler Village after a day outdoors, whether that's fresh tracks in winter or a hike up to alpine meadows in summer, warming your hands around a fresh cup of coffee as the mountain air settles into evening. Whatever the season, the alpine stillness brings a sense of calm. A thought crosses your mind: what if you could call this place home? More people are reaching the same conclusion, drawn by remote work and a market that rewards long term investment. If Whistler has already won you over, in any season, here's what to know before making it permanent.

Before You Move

A single trip can reveal more about what you want than years at home ever could. Before you take the plunge, sit with a few key questions.

What do you love about this place? Naming it sharpens your search, whether that means unobstructed mountain views or easy access to the village and its trails.

What would daily life here actually look like? Retirement changes little about the logistics. Still working means asking whether your job moves with you, or whether you’re starting over.

What does relocating give you that staying doesn’t? A clear answer makes the leap easier to explain to family, and easier to hold onto later.

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

People Come to Whistler for the Mountains — And Stay for the Lifestyle

almost evenly between winter and summer—a testament to its four-season appeal.

For many, the first visit to Whistler is inspired by the mountains. In winter, it’s North America’s largest ski resort. In summer, it’s alpine hiking, championship golf, mountain biking, lakes, and endless outdoor adventure.

What often surprises visitors is everything beyond the mountains. Over the years, Whistler has evolved into a true year-round community, with thriving arts and culture, exceptional dining, recreation, events, and amenities that create an unmatched quality of life. More than three million people visit annually, with visitation now split

For many, a Whistler getaway eventually becomes something more: a vacation home, investment property, or a permanent move to the mountains. As the region’s original real estate company, The Whistler Real Estate Company has helped generations of buyers navigate that journey, combining nearly five decades of local knowledge with proven market expertise.

Making the Move

The particulars depend on your starting point, but a few considerations tend to hold true wherever you’re headed. Decide early what becomes of your current home, whether you keep it as a rental, a second property, or put it on the market with guidance from your agent on timing. If children are part of the move, aim for the start of the school year and give yourself time to properly vet both public and private options. Cross border moves also mean earlier paperwork than you might expect, particularly around residency, and a conversation with your accountant well before you go, since how and where you’re taxed is likely to change.

Investing in a Property

Fractional ownership shares the cost of a home, though it comes with the caveat of shared access, so you’ll want a residence elsewhere too. Buying outright offers full control, and the option to make this your primary address.

Before you search, know your must haves. Whether that’s proximity to the village, access to trails, or views that hold up in every season, put it at the top. Clarity now keeps you from settling for a home that misses what drew you here in the first place.

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

The Sea to Sky corridor continues to attract people looking for more than just a change of address.

Stretching from Squamish through Whistler and into Pemberton, the region offers a unique blend of mountain landscapes, outdoor recreation, and close-knit communities. Whether it’s world-class skiing, endless hiking and biking trails, or the peaceful rural lifestyle found further north, each community has its own character while sharing a strong connection to nature.

As interest in the region continues to grow, the local real estate market has evolved alongside it. Buyers are often drawn by the lifestyle as much as the properties themselves, while sellers benefit from strong demand and a diverse range of purchasers. With changing market conditions and varying opportunities across each community, understanding the local landscape is an important part of making informed real estate decisions.

Having grown up in a real estate family and been licensed since 2012, I have seen the Sea to Sky market evolve firsthand. My local knowledge, combined with a straightforward and honest approach, allows me to help buyers and sellers navigate every stage of the process with confidence. Whether you’re purchasing your first home, selling a property, or exploring your options, I’m committed to providing personalized guidance to help you achieve your real estate goals.

110 EXPERIENCES

Picture it: a Tuesday morning that starts with coffee on the deck and a view that changes with the season, not a screen full of calendar invites in a city you’re already tired of. A short walk into the village for supplies, a longer one into the trees if the day allows it. Neighbors who know your name because you’re not just passing through anymore. This is less a vacation you’re extending and more a life you’re building, one where the mountain is simply outside your window, every day of the year. Whistler is one of the world’s great settings to call your own, in any season. Go ahead. Stay a while.

WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY...

The question I hear most often isn’t, “What should I buy?” It’s, “How do I spend more time here?”

For many visitors, Whistler begins as a holiday destination and gradually becomes something more. A favourite ski trip turns into a summer escape. A weekend getaway becomes a family tradition. Before long, many begin asking a different question: What would it look like to own a piece of it?

What makes Whistler unique is that it offers far more than a world-class ski resort. Owners enjoy a true four-season lifestyle, with championship golf, some of the world’s best mountain biking, pristine alpine lakes, exceptional dining, and a vibrant community that extends well beyond the slopes.

For those considering a purchase, resort real estate comes with its own nuances. Understanding zoning, rental opportunities, ownership structures, tax considerations, and long-term investment goals is essential to making an informed decision.

As a Realtor with Engel & Völkers Whistler, I work with discerning clients from around the world, helping them navigate Whistler’s resort and luxury real estate market with confidence, clarity, and local expertise.
