WELCOME TO L’AUBERGE DE SEDONA

L’Auberge de Sedona, a luxurious resort uniquely located in the heart of Sedona, is set amidst the destination’s beautiful natural landscape.

Natural beauty abounds at every turn, from sweeping vistas of Sedona’s Red Rock Country to Oak Creek Canyon’s gently meandering creek.

Guests are invited to enjoy this natural beauty at every point possible, such as creekside dining beneath the canopy of trees at Cress on Oak Creek, which features an Arizona-inspired food and drink menu.

Elsewhere on the property, L’Apothecary Spa beckons guests with unique outdoor spa treatments beneath the cover of trees and to the sound of the babbling creek.

In the four decades since opening, L’Auberge de Sedona has grown into a full-service resort with 158 guest rooms set amidst the region’s natural beauty. In 2025, as part of a thoughtfully designed $30 million expansion, L’Auberge de Sedona unveiled a bold new chapter, featuring 70 additional guest rooms, a luxurious poolside retreat, and a stunning event terrace, all designed to showcase the destination’s world-famous Red Rock views.

That natural beauty extends to each of its guest rooms, with 62 luxury cottages, 91 traditional guest rooms and suites, along with a beautiful, standalone five-bedroom creekside home.

Throughout the years, and for years to come, L’Auberge de Sedona will remain intimately connected to the beauty of Sedona, while serving as a place of inspiration and respite for those who walk through its doors.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We wish you a nourishing experience.

Sincerely,

The Team at L’Auberge de Sedona

EXPERIENCES

Our Hotel

Behind the Property

Nestled in the heart of Sedona, along the serene banks of Oak Creek, L’Auberge de Sedona has a storied past as captivating as its breathtaking surroundings. For over a century, this remarkable land has transformed from a working orchard into a luxurious retreat, embodying a timeless sense of beauty, warmth and hospitality.

Originally opened in May 1984 as an intimate inn, L’Auberge de Sedona began with a collection of thoughtfully designed cottages that blended seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. From the outset, the resort embraced a philosophy of understated luxury, inviting guests to slow down, reconnect with nature and experience the personalized hospitality that continues to define the property today. More than four decades later, L’Auberge remains one of Sedona’s most iconic destinations, celebrated for its tranquil setting, acclaimed dining, restorative wellness offerings and immersive experiences inspired by the region’s extraordinary natural beauty.

1800

In the late 1800s, a quiet strip of land along the banks of Oak Creek flourished with apple and peach orchards. These orchards were lovingly tended by Sedona’s original settlers, who saw promise in the fertile soil and gentle waters. For decades, the land remained a humble testament to their labor, nestled in the serenity of the red rock landscape.

1992

In 1992, the dining experience expanded with the opening of Terrace on the Creek. Nestled along the water’s edge, it offered guests gourmet meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all set against the calming rhythm of Oak Creek.

1983 / 1984

Construction began in mid-1983. By May 1984, that dream became a reality with the opening of L’Auberge de Sedona, translated from French as “The Inn.” At the time, the property featured just a driveway, 14 quaint cabins and the now-iconic L’Auberge Restaurant. Set beneath cottonwoods and beside the flowing creek, it became a quiet retreat for those seeking elegance in nature.

1982

More than a century later, in early 1982, a Frenchman named Janot Rocci arrived with a dream. He envisioned a place that echoed the warmth and charm of his childhood in Provence, a French Country Inn paired with a gourmet restaurant. With the spirit of his homeland and a keen sense of hospitality, Janot set out to create something truly special.

2004

Just a few years later in 2004, the Spa at L’Auberge had been completed. Though it moved locations a few times over the years, it ultimately returned to its original home, offering guests a sanctuary of relaxation and renewal.

1986

Growth came quickly. In 1986, the Creekhouse, more cabins, and The Lodge were added to the property. That same year, the Hillavator, a unique hillside elevator, was installed to help guests travel from the main inn to what is now the area of the Vista Cottages and Suites.

2009

In 2009, the resort welcomed even more enhancements: the Vista and Spa Cottages, a new parking structure and a pool, all contributing to a more luxurious experience while remaining true to the natural tranquility of the setting.

2019

In 2019, L’Auberge began another chapter of evolution, launching an enhancement project designed to redefine the guest’s Sense of Arrival. The valet area and porte-cochère were redesigned to ensure a seamless welcome, while the parking structure’s exterior was refreshed to offer a more nourishing first impression.

2024

In 2024, L’Auberge celebrated 40 years of hospitality, dining, and wellness—honoring the legacy that Janot Rocci envisioned in 1982 with mindful culinary experiences, distinctive wellness offerings, and the enduring warmth that continues to welcome every guest.

2015

Six years later, in 2015, L’Auberge underwent a thoughtful transformation. The beloved Creekside and Garden Cottages were extensively renovated, and the Lobby Bar and indoor restaurant were reimagined and rebranded into what are now known as Cress on Oak Creek, blending modern sophistication with timeless charm.

The History

2025

In September 2025, L’Auberge de Sedona completed a $30 million reimagining that expanded the resort with 70 new guest rooms, elevated accommodations, a panoramic Red Rock event terrace and enhanced dining experiences. The transformation honored the property's legacy while introducing thoughtfully curated wellness offerings and refined, seasonally inspired cuisine, further elevating its standing as one of Sedona's premier luxury destinations.

A Day in the Life of Our Guest Experiences Team

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF OUR GUEST EXPERIENCES TEAM

WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONCIERGE LOOK LIKE?

Each morning begins with a scenic drive along State Route 179 or 89A—a beautiful reminder of the extraordinary setting we’re fortunate to work in. Upon arrival, we begin by reviewing messages and prioritizing incoming correspondence to ensure we deliver timely, thoughtful service. Throughout the day, we engage with guests in person, by phone, text, and email—offering warm hospitality and personalized recommendations. Drawing on firsthand knowledge of the area, we tailor experiences to each guest’s unique interests, whether that’s dining, wellness, outdoor adventure, or cultural discovery. We also coordinate amenity requests, always looking for ways to elevate and enrich each stay. As the day winds down, we summarize ongoing projects and outstanding items to ensure a seamless handoff between shifts.

WHAT'S INVOLVED IN YOUR ROLE BEHIND THE SCENES THAT GUESTS WOULDN'T REALLY EXPECT?

What many guests don’t see is the behind-the-scenes effort that goes into cultivating strong relationships—both within the resort and throughout the Sedona community. We work closely with a wide network of trusted local partners, from transportation services to holistic healers, adventure guides, and dining establishments. These partnerships allow us to provide authentic, high-quality experiences that reflect the spirit of Sedona. By nurturing these connections, we ensure every recommendation is backed by genuine trust and high standards. Supporting local businesses not only enhances our guests’ experiences but also strengthens the fabric of our community.

WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF BEING A CONCIERGE?

The most rewarding part of being a concierge is the opportunity to positively impact someone’s day—or even their entire journey. Guests trust us with more than just their time and budget—they trust us with their memories. Creating a thoughtful itinerary requires truly listening to each guest’s preferences and needs, then crafting experiences that are personal and meaningful. When we hear how a recommendation led to a cherished moment—a sunset hike, a transformative spa experience, or an unforgettable dinner—it’s incredibly fulfilling. Helping guests connect deeply with Sedona and create lifelong memories is what makes this role so special.

WHAT SETS SEDONA APART FROM OTHER DESTINATIONS IN THE REGION OR WORLD?

Sedona draws visitors from all walks of life—adventurers, couples, families, creatives, and those seeking healing or peace. While each guest may come for a different reason, many share a desire to disconnect from the fast pace of everyday life and reconnect with something deeper. Sedona’s stunning natural beauty, slower rhythm, and grounding energy create a powerful backdrop for reflection and renewal. It’s not just a destination—it’s an experience that lingers long after you leave.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT WORKING AT L’AUBERGE DE SEDONA?

Working at L’Auberge de Sedona has been nothing short of transformative. It’s a place where I feel inspired, empowered, and part of something greater than myself. The culture here is deeply supportive and growth-oriented—I’m continually encouraged to learn, evolve, and contribute meaningfully. I’m grateful every day for my incredible team, the beauty of the property, and the opportunity to connect with guests in such a heartfelt and impactful way. Being part of L’Auberge has not only shaped my professional path but has also enriched my personal journey.

Round Trip6.4 miles | Hiking Time: 3.5 hours
DifficultyModerate | Elevation Change: 300 feet

This gorgeous and enjoyable trail is touted as one of the best hiking trails in Arizona and one of the top 10 trails in the United States. At just over six miles round-trip, the trail features many twists and turns, exposing incredible views of canyon walls and foliage that will make you eager to get to the next bend. The trail is an easy-to-moderate stroll, and you will have to cross the stream in a number of places—typically involving the negotiation of a few stepping stones, and Fido will enjoy a romp in the cool water. The trail is less crowded in the mornings and on weekdays; just be sure to keep your pup on a leash even if they're wading in the water.

2. WILSON CANYON

Round Trip3 miles | Hiking Time: 2.5 hours | Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

Once you’ve watered and leashed your dog (pack plenty of water, as the wash is typically dry), head north from the parking lot to a signed trail junction for the Wilson Mountain and Wilson Canyon trails—go straight ahead into Wilson Canyon. Take an easy stroll along a packed dirt path that, at 0.1 miles, forks right (where permanent cairns direct you) and gently climbs into the canyon. Soon, you’ll wind through shady spots and marvel at the cliffs on either side of the wash and trail (your dog may even enjoy a splashy romp as the trail winds in and around the wash!). Stay right at the fork to continue on the Wilson Mountain Trail and head into the Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wilderness Area where you can take in the impressive views and shady rest spots before you head back. Arrive early, heed the leash rules, and you and your dog will enjoy this mostly shady, cool, and very scenic hike in Red Rock Country!

3. SECRET MOUNTAIN

Round Trip5 miles | Hiking Time: 3 hours | Difficulty: Easy
High Point6,618 feet | Elevation Change: 200 feet

Located between Sedona and Flagstaff, this trail into the Red Rock–Secret Mountain Wilderness is the perfect quiet, remote, and stunningly beautiful hike for you and Fido. The trail begins with a gentle downhill slope lined with towering pines and oaks that will keep you and your dog shaded and cool as you trek along the lip of Secret Mountain’s western rim. Enjoy a stunning ravine that often has water—offering up a great place for your dog to enjoy a splash break. Throughout the five-mile hike, you will observe beautiful rock platforms, a cabin and corral, and water pools from snowmelt and rains. A large, open ponderosa pine parkland with fire rings makes a great picnic and water break spot before you turn around and head back to the trailhead.

4. STERLING PASS TO VULTEE ARCH

Round Trip: 5 miles | Hiking Time: 3 hours | Red Rock Pass Required: Yes

Difficulty: Difficult | High Point: 6,000 feet | Elevation Gain: 1,900 feet

Creek Access: Yes

If you’re looking for a heart-pumping challenge with a great reward, the Sterling Pass trail to Vultee Arch will certainly deliver. The trail follows a side canyon of Oak Creek Canyon along the north face of Wilson Mountain and begins in Oak Creek Canyon off Highway 89A. Its location offers shade-bearing canopies of oaks, junipers, and ponderosa pines, while boasting towering views of canyon walls, water Fido will love, and a natural red rock bridge. The trail climbs to the 6,000-foot Sterling Pass, then descends into Sterling Canyon—a quiet, shaded canyon with pine, oak, and maple trees. Instead of taking the trail to Dry Creek Basin, stroll along a side path that leads to a large slab of red rock with an overlook of Vultee Arch—a large, 40-foot-high natural bridge stretching 50 feet across the north wall of Sterling Canyon at the base of East Pocket Mesa. This makes a great photo opportunity for you and your four-legged friend!

5. HUCKABY TRAIL

Round Trip: 5.2 miles | Hiking Time: 2.5 hours | Red Rock Pass Required: Yes

Difficulty: Easy | High Point: 4,550 feet | Elevation Gain: 250 feet | Creek Access: Yes

Huckaby is an easy trail with a diverse landscape that offers great views of some of Sedona’s most iconic landscapes. Depending on your pace, the 5-mile round trip should take you approximately 2.5 hours. The footpath is mostly made up of red dirt and a sandy stretch near the creek. The trail rises and falls until you fully descend to the eastern bank. From this trail you will have views of the red rock formations “Lucy,” “Snoopy,” Cathedral Rock, and Uptown Sedona, plus a nice variety of yuccas, prickly pears, agaves, and junipers. The trail does not provide a lot of shade (except in the mornings and creekside), so if you cannot start your Huckaby hike early, bring plenty of water.

6. MARGS DRAW

Round Trip: 5.2 miles | Hiking Time: 2.5 hours | Red Rock Pass Required: Yes

Difficulty: Easy to Moderate | High Point: 4,508 feet | Elevation Gain: 125 feet

Creek Access: No

Once you arrive at the trailhead, you and your dog will instantly cross a wash leading you into the Munds Mountain Wilderness. Compared to Huckaby, this trail provides a combination of shaded areas and fully sun-exposed paths—don’t forget a hat, water, and sunscreen! The trail starts off with a moderate incline and another wash, after which you and Fido will approach a short but steep rocky climb. You will be rewarded with breathtaking views of Munds Mountain. Other rock formations you will be able to see from this trail include Camelhead and a sleeping “Snoopy.” In addition, you will find many beautiful spots for water breaks.

Sedona Through the Seasons

No matter when you arrive, Sedona offers a different reason to stay a while. Spring brings new growth and warm afternoons, summer draws you toward the cool waters of Oak Creek, fall paints the landscape in gold, and winter settles over the red rocks with a welcome quiet.

At L’Auberge de Sedona, each season reveals something new, too. A favorite cottage, an afternoon at the spa, dinner beneath the sycamores or an adventure beyond the resort can feel entirely different from one visit to the next. Consider this your invitation to experience Sedona through every season—and discover the beauty of returning again and again.

L’A U B E R G E D E S E D O N A 59

Spring

Spring is Sedona's most celebrated season, and it's easy to see why. Days warm into the 60s, 70s and low 80s while mornings and evenings remain refreshingly cool. New leaves return to the trees, flowers emerge throughout the property, and the comfortable weather makes it tempting to spend nearly every moment outside. From hiking and Jeep adventures to wandering Uptown, spring is a season for exploration—preferably followed by Sedona's natural evening entertainment as the setting sun illuminates the red rocks.

ROOM HIGHLIGHT

Spa Cottage

Spring unfolds beautifully from a Spa Cottage. Located on the garden level of the property, these cottages offer a front-row seat as flowers bloom and leaves return to the surrounding trees. Cool mornings are made for lingering over coffee while warmer afternoons invite you to experience the private outdoor cedar shower. As evening settles in and temperatures dip, retreat indoors for a long soak in your jetted tub.

DINING EXPERIENCE

Poolside at Duck Pond

The return of spring also means the return of afternoons beside the pool. Settle into a front-row seat at L'Auberge Pool, where the red rocks provide the backdrop for a leisurely afternoon cocktail and something delicious from the kitchen. By mid- to late spring, warmer days may even call for the season's first dip in the pool.

SPA SUGGESTION

7 Bowls for 7 Chakras

A new season offers an opportunity to reconnect and realign. This immersive journey focuses on the body's seven major energy centers through a multisensory blend of aromatherapy, crystal intention, guided visualization, and sound vibration. Seven singing bowls, chanting and drumming create a deeply meditative experience designed to encourage balance and a renewed sense of well-being.

SEDONA EXPERIENCE

A Grand Day Out

The Grand Canyon is extraordinary in every season, but spring offers a particularly inviting window for exploring it on foot. Plan an early departure from L'Auberge for the approximately two-hour drive to the South Rim, where a full day of remarkable views awaits. Temperatures can vary dramatically between the rim and the inner canyon, making thoughtful planning essential for longer hikes. Whether you venture below the rim or simply spend the day moving between overlooks and trails, experiencing the scale of the canyon is well worth the journey.

Summer in Sedona moves to the rhythm of Oak Creek. While temperatures rise beneath the Arizona sun, L'Auberge enjoys an enviable position along the water, where leafy sycamores provide shade and the creek creates a naturally refreshing retreat. Mornings are made for exploring, afternoons for slowing down, and evenings for returning outdoors as the heat of the day fades.

ROOM HIGHLIGHT

Creekside Cottage

In summer, there's nowhere quite like the creek. Begin the morning with coffee on your private deck beneath the sycamores, listening to the water as the day begins. After exploring Sedona return in the evening as temperatures soften and the creekside canopy comes alive with the unmistakable chorus of summer cicadas. It's an experience that feels wonderfully removed from the desert just beyond the trees.

DINING EXPERIENCE

A Table by the Creek

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner—summer makes a compelling case for enjoying them all at Cress on Oak Creek. Beneath the sycamores, al fresco dining feels naturally cooler and wonderfully unhurried. Keep an eye on the water for resident mallards; during the quieter morning and evening hours, a great blue heron frequently makes an appearance along the surface.

SPA SUGGESTION

Creekside Massage

Take your spa experience outdoors beneath the sycamores along Oak Creek, where flowing water, rustling leaves, and the surrounding landscape create a treatment uniquely connected to L'Auberge. After days beneath the Arizona sun, try the Blueberry and Blue Tansy Facial (or alternate verified spa treatment): antioxidant-rich drybrush exfoliation followed by a soothing blueberry and aloe vera wrap designed to smooth sun-exposed skin, restore softness and calm the mind.

SEDONA EXPERIENCE

From Creek Trails to Gallery Row

Follow Sedona's summer rhythm by beginning your day outdoors. Set out early for a creekside hike while the morning air is still cool then trade the trails for art and culture as temperatures rise.

Just steps from L'Auberge, Sedona's Gallery Row offers an inviting collection of galleries and boutiques showcasing local and regional artists. Wander through nearby Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village, with its shaded courtyards, sycamores, and distinctive architecture, before returning to L'Auberge to discover the resort's own sculpture garden and rotating art installations.

Fall

Fall brings a remarkable palette to Sedona: golden leaves beneath an impossibly blue sky, framed by the deep reds and oranges of the surrounding rock formations. Days are comfortably mild while mornings and evenings carry the first crispness of the approaching winter. It's a season for long hikes, leisurely afternoons, early fires, and savoring the abundance of autumn in the high desert.

ROOM HIGHLIGHT

Vista Cottage or Cliffs Junior Suite

Choose your autumn perspective. From a Vista Cottage, watch the season change from an expansive private deck or even from the comfort of your soaking tub. When evening temperatures fall the gas fireplace makes it easy to add a little warmth and ambiance.

For guests who want to be closer to the energy of Uptown, selecting a Cliffs accommodation with both a deck and fireplace, such as a Junior Suite or Cliffs King Delux, makes an afternoon of browsing galleries, boutiques—and perhaps getting an early start on holiday shopping—effortless.

SPA SUGGESTION

Human Design Composite Chart Reading

Autumn invites reflection—and perhaps something unexpected. A Human Design Composite Chart Reading overlays two individual charts, revealing shared energetic patterns, and offering a fresh perspective on your relationship.

For a more tactile renewal, choose the L'Apothecary Scrub. Select a sugar or salt base and personalize it with nourishing botanicals and aromatic essences. A soothing head, neck, and scalp massage completes the treatment, while your bespoke scrub is yours to take home.

DINING EXPERIENCE

An Uptown Afternoon at 89Agave

Autumn's mild afternoons are ideal for taking a seat on the street-side patio at 89Agave Cantina. A longtime Sedona gathering place in the heart of Uptown, the restaurant pairs authentic Mexican flavors and fresh ingredients with red rock views and some of the best people-watching in town. Stop in for lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch and let the energy of Uptown become part of the experience.

SEDONA EXPERIENCE

Explore Sedona's Ancient Landscape

Long before Sedona became a destination, indigenous peoples lived, gathered, traveled, and built communities throughout this landscape. Spend an autumn day discovering some of the region's archaeological and cultural heritage sites, where cliff dwellings, pueblos, rock art, and other remnants offer a window into thousands of years of human history.

Palatki and Honanki Heritage Sites lie within the greater Sedona area, while Tuzigoot National Monument, Montezuma Castle National Monument, and Montezuma Well make compelling additions to a day of exploration farther afield. Visit with curiosity and respect remembering that these are not simply remnants of the past, but places connected to living indigenous cultures today.

Winter reveals a quieter side of Sedona. Trails feel more spacious, the pace around town slows, and on the rare snowy morning, a dusting of white transforms the red rocks into an unforgettable landscape. Daytime temperatures are often mild enough for exploring, while crisp mornings and cool evenings provide the perfect excuse to retreat fireside. It's a season that invites you to slow down, venture out, and appreciate Sedona from an entirely different perspective.

ROOM HIGHLIGHT

Garden or Creekside Cottage

There's something magical about a wood-burning fireplace in winter. Whether you're enjoying a quiet meal beside the fire, settling in after a day of exploring Sedona, or waking to the scent of burning wood and the gentle crackle of flames, a Garden or Creekside Cottage creates a cozy experience all its own. Winter invites you to slow down—and there's no better place to do so than fireside.

DINING EXPERIENCE

A Fireside Evening

Winter is the perfect season to linger over a leisurely meal at Cress on Oak Creek. Begin with a glass of wine or a handcrafted cocktail before settling in for a dining experience that celebrates the warmth and flavors of the season. There's no need to rush the evening. After dinner, return to your cottage, light the fire and let the final course be the simple pleasure of having nowhere else to be.

SPA SUGGESTION

Comfort & Glow

Winter calls for a little extra nourishment. “Comfort & Glow" is a decadent body treatment designed to gently exfoliate, polish and renew the skin while replenishing much-needed moisture. Mineral-rich salts, natural sugars, nourishing butters, oils and cannabinoids work together to smooth dry texture, restore balance and leave the skin feeling soft, radiant and renewed.

SEDONA EXPERIENCE

A Different Pace of Adventure

Winter offers two very different ways to experience Sedona. During the holiday season, Uptown takes on a festive glow, making a bundled-up evening stroll through its shops, galleries and illuminated streets a charming way to spend a few hours before returning fireside.

By day, take advantage of winter's quieter trails. Cooler temperatures make afternoon hikes especially enjoyable, while fewer visitors create an inviting opportunity to experience a new side of Sedona's outdoor adventures. Curious about mountain biking? Winter's relaxed pace gives you room to stop, learn and find your rhythm on the red rock trails. Or simply lace up your hiking boots and enjoy a familiar trail with a little more of Sedona to yourself.

The Grand Canyon: A Majestic Day Trip from Sedona

THE GRAND CANYON:

A MAJESTIC DAY TRIP FROM SEDONA

Just two hours north of Sedona, one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders awaits. A visit to the Grand Canyon offers not only breathtaking views but also a journey through Arizona’s rich geological and cultural history. The drive itself is a scenic experience—passing through high desert landscapes, ponderosa pine forests, and historic towns that whisper stories of the Old West and indigenous heritage.

Once at the South Rim, guests can explore a variety of overlooks that reveal the Canyon’s grandeur from different angles, each more stunning than the last. Whether you choose a gentle walk along the rim or venture into the canyon on a short hike, you’ll find yourself immersed in a landscape that is both humbling and unforgettable.

A day at the Grand Canyon pairs perfectly with the restful luxury of L’Auberge—offering adventure by day and serenity by night.

1. TAKE TIME TO TRULY EXPERIENCE THE GRAND CANYON

While the beauty of the top of the Grand Canyon can be viewed just beyond the parking lot, its magnitude can only be experienced with time and a little energy. There are tours to give you a better understanding of the history of the Grand Canyon and take you to superior vantage points to take in impressive views and historic buildings. If you enjoy a good hike, the team at The Hike House can point you in the right direction toward the best spots.

2. STUDY UP ON THE GRAND CANYON

Yes, there’s a lot to learn about this world wonder, but it doesn’t have to feel like school. As we recommended in Tip 1, you can take an informative and engaging tour to learn more about the area's history. Or do your own research on the history of the land and people, as well as its native species of plants and animals (including nearly 400 unique species of birds).

3. KEEP YOUR WITS ABOUT YOU

While so much work has been done in its 100+ year history of being part of the National Parks, the Grand Canyon is still a vast area that can present some danger if you aren’t careful. Also, be sure to dress accordingly as the weather at the top (South Rim) is quite different from the bottom (Phantom Ranch), where it is typically 20 to 30 degrees warmer. In the summer, Phantom Ranch will regularly exceed 100 degrees.

4. TAKE PHOTOS

It’s not too often you get the chance to experience one of the seven natural wonders of the world, so double-check that your camera or smartphone batteries are fully charged. If you’re sharing your sensational shots on social media, be sure to tag us @LaubergeSedona on Instagram, and @LaubergeSedona on Facebook.

QLOCKTWO BE PRESENT In an ever-accelerating world, there is value in consciously pausing. Time itself is not our scarcest resource - our perception of it is. QLOCKTWO presents time as human culture once understood it: not as numbers, but as an experience. A gentle reminder to pause, become aware of the present moment, and be present. Handcrafted in Germany with precision, attention to detail, and a deep appreciation for materiality, QLOCKTWO creates objects that transform the way we experience time. Founded by artists and designers Marco Biegert and Andreas Funk, QLOCKTWO combines innovative time visualization, contemporary design, and exceptional craftsmanship. www.qlocktwo.com EARTH - The Icon of Origin Born from the radical question, “What is time?”, QLOCKTWO EARTH has become a modern design icon. Instead of hands or digits, it illuminates the moment in words: “IT IS HALF PAST EIGHT” Available in more than twenty languages and a curated palette of exceptional finishes — from pure white and oxidized steel to raw stone and hand-applied gold leaf — each piece reflects the individuality of its owner. Whether in a lakeside villa, a mountain retreat, or a city penthouse, QLOCKTWO EARTH transforms interiors into spaces of calm, presence, and design.

MOON - The Rhythm of Time

For centuries, the moon has fascinated humanity. A constant companion to Earth, it has shaped our understanding of time, inspired countless stories, and connected cultures across the world.

QLOCKTWO MOON visualizes one of our oldest measures of time through 28 illuminated lunar phases, making the rhythm of the month visible and tangible. Inspired by the celestial cycle that has guided cultures for generations, it reconnects us with a more natural experience of time.

Hand-finished in lacquer, platinum, or moon gold, each piece combines German craftsmanship with sculptural design, transforming the passage of time into a moment of reflection.

MOON does not measure time. It mesmerizes it, making the present itself feel eternal.

W - The Wristwatch

QLOCKTWO W brings the iconic word-based time display to the wearer’s wrist, transforming time into a personal experience. Reduced to the essentials, QLOCKTWO W combines timeless aesthetics with iconic design. A simple flick of the wrist reveals the time in words, creating a subtle moment of awareness throughout the day. A quiet companion that invites its wearer to pause, reflect, and be present.

Each QLOCKTWO is handcrafted, numbered, and individually finished — no two are ever alike. Surfaces are treated like canvases, reflecting a singular devotion to materiality, craftsmanship, and detail.

Its integrated moon phase display brings together the worlds of EARTH and MOON, creating a seamless connection between the rhythm of the day and the rhythm of the month.

Every QLOCKTWO begins with time. What it creates is presence.

Winner of more than 40 international design awards, QLOCKTWO stands as a symbol of a new precision — one that measures not seconds, but moments.

As co-founder Andreas Funk reflects: “The more you try to grasp time, the more it disappears. What remains is the beauty of the now.”

Trail Wisdom

FINDING YOURSELF ON SEDONA'S RED ROCK PATHS

Sedona is widely regarded as one of the finest hiking destinations in the United States, and the reputation is entirely deserved. With more than 200 trails threading through the Coconino National Forest and the surrounding red rock country, the landscape here offers something genuinely rare: a place where the act of walking becomes, almost without effort, an act of restoration. The trails do not merely take you somewhere. They return you to yourself.

What makes Sedona's trail network so extraordinary is not any single route but the cumulative effect of the terrain itself. The red sandstone formations, shaped over hundreds of millions of years, create a landscape of almost cinematic scale, where canyon walls rise hundreds of feet on either side of a path and the sky, framed above, turns the color of deep water. Moving through this on foot, at the pace that feet demand, is an experience that sits well outside the ordinary.

At the other end sit the technical ascents: routes that require scrambling over open slickrock, navigating narrow ridgelines, and earning, through genuine physical effort, views that cannot be reached any other way. Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and the dramatic high trails of the Boynton Canyon area reward those who commit to them with panoramas that stretch across the Verde Valley and beyond on clear days, all the way to the San Francisco Peaks near Flagstaff. These are not walks. They are events.

CHOOSING YOUR TRAIL

Between these extremes lies a broad middle ground of intermediate trails, two to five miles in length, with moderate elevation change and reliable waymarking that suit the guest who wants to feel genuinely immersed in the landscape without either coasting or struggling. This middle ground is, for many visitors, where Sedona's hiking is at its most satisfying.

The range of hiking available in Sedona is one of its greatest strengths. At one end of the spectrum sit the accessible, well-signed paths that wind along the floor of Oak Creek Canyon, where the sound of water accompanies every step and the canyon walls provide shade through the warmest parts of the day. These are trails for all abilities, suitable for families, for those returning to walking after time away, and for anyone who wants to be present in the landscape without the demands of serious elevation gain.

READING THE SEASONS

One of Sedona’s quiet gifts to hikers is that it is genuinely walkable year-round, though each season makes a different offer. Spring is the most celebrated time to be on the trails: wildflowers emerge across the canyon floor, temperatures hover in the comfortable mid-70s, and the quality of light—clear, warm, unhurried—is exceptional. The trails are busier in spring than at any other time, and an early start is always advisable.

Summer demands more respect. Midday temperatures regularly exceed 90 degrees, and the open slickrock sections of the higher trails offer no shade and no mercy. The calculus here is simple: begin before seven in the morning, carry significantly more water than you think you will need, and return to lower ground before noon. Those who observe these rules are rewarded; the early morning light on the red rock formations in June and July is among the most beautiful things the desert produces.

Autumn restores a kind of equilibrium. Crowds thin, temperatures drop into the 60s and 70s, and the cottonwoods along Oak Creek turn a deep, saturated gold that sits in startling contrast against the rust of the canyon walls. It is arguably the most beautiful season to hike here, and certainly the most forgiving.

Winter, too, has its advocates. The trails are quieter, the air is sharp and clarifying, and the occasional dusting of snow on the higher formations transforms the red rocks into an unforgettable landscape.

THE ETIQUETTE OF THE TRAIL

Sedona’s trails are a shared resource, and the principles that govern them are worth taking seriously. Yield to uphill hikers; they are working harder and should not have to break their rhythm. Stay on marked paths; the cryptobiotic soil crust that forms between rocks and plants is extraordinarily fragile and can take decades to recover from a single misplaced step. Carry out everything you carry in.

The question of sound is worth raising directly. The temptation to fill the silence of the trail with music or podcasts is understandable, but it works against everything the landscape is offering. The ambient acoustics of Sedona’s canyon country—the wind in the junipers, the distant call of a canyon wren, the particular resonance of open rock—are part of the experience in the same way that the visual landscape is. To walk here with ears open is to receive something the headphones will always prevent.

The trail is not a backdrop. It is the thing itself, and Sedona’s red rock paths have a way of making that quietly, unmistakably clear.

“The red sandstone formations, some of the oldest exposed rock in North America, create a landscape of almost cinematic scale, where canyon walls rise hundreds of feet on either side of a path and the sky framed above, turns the color of deep water.”

RETURNING WELL

The most experienced hikers in Sedona will tell you that the return matters as much as the outward journey. Plan for it. Allow time after a trail for the body and mind to settle, for the particular quality of tiredness that a good walk produces to be honored rather than rushed past. L’Auberge’s position at the edge of the trail network makes this transition natural: the resort's creekside grounds, its spa, and its quiet terraces all invite the kind of slow decompression that a morning on the rock deserves. There is a reason that guests who hike in Sedona tend to sleep more deeply, eat more slowly, and speak more quietly than they did when they arrived. The trails do that. The landscape does that. Go out, move through it, and let it work.

WHERE TO EAT AND DRINK IN SEDONA

People do not typically arrive in Sedona thinking about the food. They come for the rocks, the vortexes, the hiking, the sky. But somewhere between the first bite of a slow-roasted local lamb and the last pour of a handcrafted Arizona spirit, the cuisine of this high desert town stops being a footnote and becomes part of the story. Sedona's culinary scene is smaller than the national conversation about it might suggest, and all the better for it. What exists here is intentional, rooted, and quietly excellent.

The farm-to-table philosophy is not a marketing position in Sedona; it is a practical reality.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE PLATE

To understand what makes Sedona's food culture distinct, it helps to understand its geography. At 4,000 feet elevation, flanked by the Colorado Plateau and nourished by the Verde Valley below, the region supports a remarkable range of agricultural produce, from orchard fruits in Oak Creek Canyon to heritage grains grown across the plateau. The chefs cooking here know this intimately, and the best menus in town read like a seasonal inventory of the land around them.

The farm-to-table philosophy is not a marketing position in Sedona; it is a practical reality. Distances between grower and kitchen are short, relationships between chef and farmer are personal, and the result is food that carries genuine provenance. Consider a wood-roasted beet with local goat cheese and piñon, a heritage breed pork chop from a Verde Valley farm, or an heirloom grain salad dressed with cold-pressed Arizona olive oil. These are not dishes assembled from a national supply chain. They taste like somewhere specific, and that somewhere is here.

The broader dining landscape across Sedona reflects this same commitment to place. Whether you find yourself at a terrace restaurant overlooking the creek or a quieter room tucked into the canyon's edge, the through-line is consistency of intention—ingredients sourced locally, prepared with care, and served in spaces where the view is always part of the meal.

THE CRAFT OF THE GLASS

If the food movement in Sedona has a natural companion, it is the emerging craft spirits scene taking shape across the Verde Valley corridor. Arizona has proven, somewhat against expectation, to be a serious producer of artisan spirits—including whiskeys, gins, and agave-based expressions—that draw on the state's distinctive climate, its high-elevation grain harvests, and the particular mineral character of its water sources.

The altitude matters more than most people realize. Fermentation behaves differently at 4,000 feet; barrels breathe at a different rate; the temperature swings between Sedona's warm days and cool nights accelerate the aging process in ways that give Arizona spirits a character distinct from anything produced at sea level. The result is a category worth exploring seriously, and the cocktail programs across Sedona's better bars and restaurants have responded accordingly, building menus around local and regional spirits that reward guests willing to move beyond their usual order.

The best food and drink in Sedona tastes like somewhere specific. That somewhere is here, and once you have experienced it, everywhere else tastes a little more generic.

At L'Auberge itself, the bars draw thoughtfully on this regional tradition. The resort's cocktail menu moves between Arizona spirits, agave expressions that nod to the Mexican borderlands just a few hours south, and house creations built around the same seasonal produce philosophy that drives the kitchen. A late afternoon drink on the terrace with the red rocks catching the last of the light is as considered an experience as anything served at the table.

THE TABLE AS RITUAL

What distinguishes eating well in Sedona from eating well in larger, more celebrated culinary destinations is the quality of attention that smaller scale demands. There are no anonymous tables here, no restaurants running on autopilot through a hundred covers a night. The experience of dining in this town rewards those who slow down to meet it, who ask questions, linger over a second glass, and allow the meal to extend into the evening at its own pace. At L'Auberge, the Cress on Oak Creek restaurant sits at the heart of this philosophy. Breakfast here—soft scrambled eggs with garden herbs, sourdough from a local bakery, and coffee taken slowly on the creekside terrace—sets a tone for the day that the landscape itself seems to endorse. Dinner is a fuller occasion: low candlelight, the sound of Oak Creek below, and a menu that follows the growing season and changes with the chef's instincts. The view through the windows is always the same canyon; always different light. Sedona will surprise you with what it puts on the plate. Come for the rocks, stay for the table.

A Day Well Lived

THE ULTIMATE SEDONA ITINERARY

There is a particular quality to a Sedona morning that is unlike anything else on earth. Before the sun fully crests the canyon walls, the red rocks hold a deep, bruised violet— silent and ancient and waiting. The guests who rise early enough to witness it rarely forget it. Start here. Start at the beginning of the light.

What the Experts Say...

WHY BALLOONING IN SEDONA IS UNLIKE ANYWHERE ELSE

Hot air ballooning is one of the purest forms of flight, relying on nature rather than engines or steering controls. Because balloons travel with the wind, every flight begins with a careful evaluation of weather conditions, wind direction, temperature, and launch site selection. In Sedona, the dramatic red rock landscape creates unique wind patterns and microclimates that require extensive local knowledge and sound judgment. Experienced pilots understand how these changing conditions influence every stage of the flight, from inflation and liftoff to navigating the morning air currents and selecting a safe landing site. No two flights are ever exactly alike, making each sunrise adventure both unique and unforgettable.

For more than 34 years, Red Rock Balloons has combined aviation expertise, local experience, and an unwavering commitment to safety to provide guests with exceptional flights over Sedona’s breathtaking landscape.

Red Rock Balloons | 928.284.0040 | redrockballoons.com

SUNRISE: ABOVE THE RED ROCKS

There is no better introduction to Sedona's scale than seeing it from the air. A hot air balloon flight at dawn, launched in the stillness before the canyon warms, offers a perspective on this landscape that no trail or viewpoint can replicate. Drifting above the Coconino National Forest as the desert floor ignites in amber and gold, the full geography of red rock country reveals itself: Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, the broad arc of Oak Creek Canyon, the Verde Valley stretching south toward the horizon. The silence up here is remarkable—no engine, no schedule, nothing but the occasional rush of the burner and the slow, sovereign drift of the wind. The flight lasts roughly an hour. You will wish it lasted three.

MID-MORNING: ON THE TRAIL

Back on solid ground and invigorated by the aerial perspective, mid-morning calls for something more tactile. Sedona's trail network is one of its great gifts; more than 200 routes threading through canyon, forest, and open slickrock, calibrated to suit every level of ambition. A gentle walk along the West Fork Trail offers sycamore shade and the sound of canyon stream underfoot, while the approach to Soldier Pass and the Devil's Kitchen sinkhole rewards those willing to work a little harder. Even a two-hour morning walk returns you to the resort feeling scoured clean—the kind of deep, physical satisfaction that no spa treatment can fully replicate, though L'Auberge's L'Apothecary is a worthy complement later in the day. The secret, as any experienced Sedona hiker will tell you, is to start early and move at the landscape's pace rather than your own. These trails are not a commute. They are the destination.

AFTERNOON: SEDONA'S DEEPER STORY

After lunch back at the resort, perhaps at Cress Bar, where the view reaches directly across Oak Creek to the canyon walls, give the afternoon over to something slower. Sedona's history is older and more layered than its reputation as a wellness destination might suggest. The region was home to the Sinagua people for centuries before European settlers arrived; their cliff dwellings and rock art, preserved across the canyon landscape, offer a quietly extraordinary window into a civilization that read this terrain with an intimacy we can only approximate. Several heritage sites are accessible by short walks from well-marked trailheads, and the experience of standing before a dwelling set into red rock, unchanged for nearly a thousand years, reorients the day in a way that is difficult to articulate but easy to feel. Sedona also carries a rich twentieth-century history as a location for Hollywood Westerns—over 60 films were shot in these canyons between the 1920s and 1970s, and the rock formations that served as backdrops are still recognizable to anyone who grew up watching them. The landscape, in other words, has always been performing. The trick is learning to see it for itself.

GOLDEN HOUR: COCKTAILS WITH A VIEW

Back at L’Auberge, the late afternoon hour is non-negotiable: find a position on the terrace or at the Duck Pond Cliffside Pool & Bar and simply watch. The red rocks do something extraordinary in the last hour of sunlight—the iron oxide in the sandstone saturates to a deep, burning sienna, the shadows go indigo, and the whole landscape seems briefly lit from within. Order something with local flavor; mezcal and agave sit well in this desert light, and let the day dissolve.

Dinner follows naturally, and Cress on Oak Creek delivers the kind of farm-to-table menu that feels genuinely earned after a day spent in the landscape it references. The creekside setting, with the sound of water below and stars appearing above the canyon walls, closes the loop on a day that began, astonishingly, in the sky. This is Sedona at its most distilled: wild enough to feel earned, comfortable enough to feel indulgent. L’Auberge holds it all together, the beginning and the end of a day well lived.

DECORATING AND PUTTING DOWN ROOTS IN SEDONA

The first thing you notice, arriving in Sedona, is the color. Not the color of the sky, though it is extraordinary, a deep cerulean blue that seems to sharpen in the dry air, but the color of the earth itself. The red rocks are not one color but many: rust and ochre, burnt sienna and deep burgundy, the pale gold of sandstone in high sun and the near-purple of canyon shadow at dusk. It is a palette so distinctive, so fully realized, that it seems less like geology and more like intention. As if someone had designed this place.

That thought, that someone designed this place, is where the interior design conversation in Sedona begins. Because once you have spent time in this landscape, you find it extraordinarily difficult to return to a home that does not somehow reflect it back at you. The terracotta and cream, the natural textures, the warm wood tones— these are not merely aesthetic preferences. They are a form of belonging.

THE RESORT AS BLUEPRINT

L’Auberge de Sedona has long understood this. The resort's own design language, its cottage-side palette of warm neutrals and earthy reds, the natural stone accents, the deliberate integration of Oak Creek's greenery into the visual rhythm of the spaces, did not emerge from a mood board. It emerged from sustained attention to the place itself. Walking the grounds here is a masterclass in how to honor a landscape without competing with it: materials that echo the canyon walls, colors that shift with the light, interiors that feel genuinely rooted rather than merely decorated.

For guests who find themselves drawn to that feeling, who want to carry something of it home, the resort offers a useful starting point. The principles at work here are not proprietary or complicated. They are simply the result of looking carefully at Sedona and allowing what you see to determine every decision that follows.

BUILDING A SEDONA PALETTE

The foundation of any interior inspired by this landscape is color, and the canyon provides an unusually generous starting point. The warm neutrals that form the backbone of so many successful Sedona interiors—soft whites, sandy greiges, pale travertine—are not bland choices. They are the precise tones of the sandstone formations at midday, and they create the same effect indoors that the canyon floor creates in nature: a calm, luminous base against which the richer elements of the landscape can register.

Those richer elements are introduced through textiles, ceramics, and art. A deep terracotta throw against a linen sofa. A hand-thrown ceramic bowl glazed in the precise burgundy of the rock face visible through the window. An ochre-tiled backsplash that catches the afternoon light and holds it. None of these require grand gestures or significant expenditure; they require only the willingness to look at the landscape outside and trust what you see.

Sedona's artistic community is one of the most vibrant in the Southwest, and the galleries and studios scattered across town offer an extraordinary range of work that engages directly with the terrain—photography, painting, ceramics, and sculpture that carry the spirit of the canyon into any room they inhabit. Acquiring even one significant piece of locally made art connects a home to this place in a way that no amount of careful decoration can replicate on its own.

MATERIALS AND TEXTURE

If color provides the palette, materials provide the weight. The interiors that feel most at home in Sedona share a commitment to natural texture: stone, wood, linen, leather, raw plaster. These are materials that age honestly, that improve with use, and that carry the same quality of quiet permanence that the landscape itself projects.

LES LIE YARDLEY

Welcome Home to the Awe Inspiring Verde Valley

Natural stone floors—flagstone, travertine, or rough-cut sandstone—anchor a room to the canyon terrain in a way that no ceramic tile can quite achieve. Reclaimed timber brings warmth and a sense of accumulated history. Raw plaster walls, finished in tones of warm white or pale sand, respond to changing light throughout the day in a way that painted surfaces rarely do. Metals, where they appear, should lean warm—aged bronze over chrome, burnished copper over stainless steel, and hammered iron over brushed nickel. The cumulative effect of these choices is neither rustic nor minimal but something more considered—a sophisticated earthiness that feels genuinely of this place rather than decoratively gesturing toward it. The best Sedona interiors do not decorate with the landscape. They are continuous with it, inside and outside held in the same unhurried conversation.

THE CASE FOR PUTTING DOWN ROOTS

THE CASE FOR PUTTING DOWN ROOTS

For a growing number of discerning buyers, the question is not simply how to decorate with Sedona's spirit but how to make a more permanent commitment to it. The luxury second-home market here has strengthened considerably in recent years, driven by factors that anyone who has spent real time in this landscape will recognize immediately: the town's seclusion from urban noise, the extraordinary quality of the natural environment, the robust community of artists and wellness practitioners, and the simple, repeatable pleasure of life at four thousand feet.

The property landscape is varied and genuinely beautiful. Custombuilt estates command canyon views that shift with every season; creek-adjacent properties offer a particular quality of stillness, with the sound of Oak Creek providing a constant, natural score. Much of the surrounding land is national forest or protected wilderness, which keeps new development contained and ensures that what exists retains both its character and its value.

The advice most consistently offered to buyers new to the market is this: spend time here across the seasons before committing. Sedona in October—cool and gold, with the cottonwoods turning along the creek—is a different proposition from Sedona in July, when the monsoon rolls up from the south and afternoon storms turn the sky electric above the rock formations. Both are extraordinary. A home here should feel right in all of them.

Any home designed to endure, to hold its intelligence and integrity across decades of daily life, is shaped as much by the objects within it as by its architecture. Sedona attracts people who think carefully about how they live, and that thoughtfulness tends to extend to what they choose to surround themselves with: furniture built to last, art acquired for meaning rather than trend, and objects selected for the quality of attention they reward over time. This is a place that encourages a particular kind of slowness, a willingness to notice the light changing on the canyon wall, to sit with a view rather than move past it, and to invest in the domestic environment as a space for genuine restoration. The homes that capture that spirit most successfully are not necessarily the largest or the most expensively furnished. They are the ones where every object has been chosen with the same care that the landscape itself seems to demand. This is what designing for Sedona ultimately means: not the accumulation of objects that reference a style, but the cultivation of a home that holds something true about a place—and about the people who chose to belong to it.
