Promontory

Promontory Is Beyond Promises

Our private mountain club began in 2001, when the vision of Promontory was brought to life by an uncompromising developer with extensive experience in building communities and providing high-end hospitality. Pivotal Group founder/CEO and developer of Promontory, F. Francis Najafi, found inspiration in the expansive 7,200-acre landscape to create a timeless mountain club for people of all ages.

Promontory is a place where families come together, from around the country and around the world, in a legacy that continues from one generation to the next. It offers a lifestyle grounded in rejuvenating outdoor recreation, a true respect for nature and a genuine stewardship of the land. Promontory is also the promise we make to ourselves—to rediscover who we are and to make a lasting connection with our families. It provides unique and adventurous experiences alongside world-class amenities that invite us to be fully present and immersed in the moment.

We selected Utah for its spectacular scenery, weather, and accessibility. We selected Park City for its one-of-a-kind skiing, cultural attractions, and small-town living. And we selected our wide-ranging, 11-square-mile parcel of land for its vistas, its topography, its wildlife, and its ability to bring us closer to the earth while keeping the rest of the planet at a convenient distance.

This is the promise of Promontory. A promise you’ll see reflected in every corner of the Promontory Conservancy, in the programming of the Promontory Club, and in every detail of the Promontory Master Plan. It’s a place where generations come together, both to enjoy nature and celebrate life.

2011 2015 • The Village Compound expands with the innovative addition of The Shed, an award-winning building that created “a Promontory Main Street under one roof”. Anchored by the Post Office, it includes a diner (all-American family dining), bowling alley, 50-seat cinema, an art silo, a mercantile, sports court, electronic and board games, and walls of TVs for sports viewing. The Shed opens up to a tiered amphitheatre that seats up to 500, facing an indoor/outdoor stage. • The Nicklaus Clubhouse, featuring the Peak Restaurant and Private Dining Room (Asian fusion), Nicklaus Pro Shop, and men’s/women’s locker rooms, is completed and opens to Promontory Full Members.

2011 Highlights 2015 - 2016 Highlights The Shed The HUB (2015) • We also opened the HUB, a central meeting place for real estate sales and executive offices with a lobby that reminds you of an IMAX theater screen with floor-to-ceiling windows showing off the entire Wasatch Back Mountain Range. 2017-2019 • How about a beach at 7,000 feet above sea level? In summer 2017, an integrated pool and tons of beach sand are added on to a two-acre lake at the center of the property to create the setting for the Beach Club. This club features a restaurant (beachside seafood and light fare), men’s/ women’s locker rooms, an expansive dining patio with a beach bar, and a DJ area for lounging.

• The addition of the Nicklaus Fitness Center (2018) adds a second fitness facility to Promontory’s suite of amenities.

• The Bocce Ball Park and pavilion are added adjacent to the Nicklaus Clubhouse, and we install the 2002 Winter Olympic Cauldron that was gifted to Promontory for our participation in bringing the Olympics to Park City.

• Also in 2017, a slope-side building area at Park City Mountain Resort became available, and the following year, Promontory artfully remodeled the 5,800-square-foot space to become our familyfriendly on-mountain ski lodge. With ski valet services, lockers, ample seating and a complimentary soup, beverage and cookie bar, this private lodge, right in front of the ski school, is a member favorite.

Coming Soon

2020 – 2023

Expanding the Nicklaus Clubhouse is the next addition to the amenity set at Promontory. Our members were asking for a ballroom to hold weddings, family gatherings, and other large events to celebrate life’s special occasions. As a result, the Double Deer Ballroom was added to the Nicklaus Clubhouse (Fall 2020). The expansion also includes an arrival lobby, a pre-function area, a green room/bride’s room and space for a 250-person sit-down event, an après-golf lounge and a small spa are added.

To complement the Ballroom is the building of 26 fully furnished cottages adjacent to the Double Deer Ballroom that are member-owned and have two keys per unit, much like a boutique hotel. These can be put in a rental pool to house guests coming to large family events or member-hosted corporate retreats. At the edge of the cottage neighborhood is the Perch, overlooking the 18th fairway of the Nicklaus golf course, featuring a community pool, hot tub, fire pit and catering pavilion.

2024

Come 2024 and it’s time for a third golf course. The Hills Short Course, a par-3 course suited to all abilities, opened for play in May. The Hills Clubhouse offers views over the Cascade Green.

The GAP, the Golf Academy at Promontory, featuring three bays for high-tech instruction and a world-class TaylorMade golf club fitting studio also opened, as does the modern Italian restaurant, Sage, inside The Hills Clubhouse. This restaurant features a huge center bar and lounge with sports TVs overlooking the cascading waterfall on the 18th green. To the right of the lobby and Hills Pro Shop are four golf simulator bays and lounge areas where you can play hundreds of courses around the world, including the three courses right here at Promontory.

Designed for both relaxation and rejuvenation, the new spa features 10 serene treatment rooms, full-service locker rooms, and a tranquil relaxation lounge. Guests can also enjoy a thoughtfully curated hydrotherapy circuit, complete with a steam room, dry and infrared saunas, a hot tub, and a cold pool—creating a comprehensive wellness experience unlike anything previously offered at Promontory.

• Another highlight of 2025 was the enhancement of our Village Clubhouse which includes an expanded fitness area, new cardio studio, revitalized spin and stretch rooms, infrared saunas in the renovated locker rooms and a brand new, state of the art fleet of fitness equipment.

Painted Canyon Amenity Planning

Promontory is currently in the early planning stages for a new amenity campus located at the south end of the community near the Painted Canyon gate. This future destination is envisioned as a comprehensive recreational hub featuring a racquet center with pickleball, tennis, and padel courts, along with a pool, fitness facilities, dining options, and additional leisure amenities.

The surrounding area will also incorporate an expanded network of walking and biking trails, enhancing connectivity and outdoor access throughout the southern portion of the property. As this project remains in the conceptual phase, final programming has not yet been approved. A projected timeline is still being determined, though updates are expected as architectural planning progresses into next year.

Skyhouse

Skyhouse is an exclusive retreat designed specifically for residents of the Pinnacle neighborhood, offering a private and elevated hospitality experience. Scheduled to open in summer 2026, this amenity serves as a dedicated respite for the 64 homes within Pinnacle.

The space will feature a pool, hot tub, and cold plunge with a focus on wellness and plunge-style fitness, complemented by a spacious patio with sweeping views of the Wasatch Back mountains. Additional amenities include two spa treatment rooms, concierge services, and a catering kitchen, all thoughtfully curated to create a refined, resort-style environment within the community.

Nicklaus Clubhouse Adult Lap Pool

Additional Amenities & Updates

A new adult lap pool is being planned adjacent to the existing Nicklaus Fitness Center, marking another addition to Promontory’s growing collection of wellness amenities. Once completed, this will be the seventh pool within the community.

The facility will include a lap pool and hot tub, with the added benefit of poolside dining service from the Peak restaurant during the summer months. The project is currently in the design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in fall of 2026 as part of the broader clubhouse planning efforts.

Promontory continues to expand and enhance its outdoor offerings, including the extension of the Princess Di Trail. This project aims to connect with the regional Rail Trail in partnership with the Snyderville Basin Recreation District, further integrating the community with surrounding recreational infrastructure.

As always, the developer remains proactive in anticipating future community needs, with additional updates and enhancements expected over time. For the latest information, prospective buyers and residents are encouraged to connect with a Promontory sales executive.

Jack Nicklaus designed this masterpiece to ensure stirring challenges with every round.

At 8,098 yards, the Signature Nicklaus Painted Valley Course is one of the most challenging courses to play, and one of the longest in the nation. Large open fairways and undulating greens make this course challenging for even the best of handicaps. Golf Digest ranked the Nicklaus Painted Valley Course at Promontory the third best “New Private Course” in the U.S. in 2007. Jack Nicklaus designed the Painted Valley Golf Course in a links style to flow alongside a stream, through Promontory’s high-altitude valleys.

The Nicklaus Clubhouse

The stunning Nicklaus Clubhouse combines breathtaking views with a sophisticated ambience. Striking interiors reflect a luxurious and modern clubhouse with rich and handsome textures — a perfect fit for Promontory’s discriminating membership. The cutting-edge architecture was designed by John Sather of Swaback Partners in Scottsdale, Arizona, who utilized stone, glass, and steel to fashion this quintessential Promontory icon.

Double Deer

Double Deer, an expansion of the Nicklaus Clubhouse, overlooks the iconic 18th hole of the Jack Nicklaus Signature Painted Valley Golf Course, capped with stunning views of Deer Valley in the distance. The on-range Golf Academy at Promontory (The GAP) is complete with multiple hitting bays and the GAP fitting studio by TaylorMade Golf.

The Hills Par 3 Course is the vision of acclaimed golf course architect Forrest Richardson and design partner Jeff Danner. The course places a premium on accuracy, carry, and length — the true hallmarks of great golf design, according to legendary golf architect, William Flynn.

With round times just under three hours for 18-holes, you can take advantage of the course’s shortcuts to create your own course, add to the day with short loops to settle bets, or just keep playing for the fun of it.

A Q&A With Our Director of Golf

Lance Patterson

Q: What do you believe makes a golf experience truly exceptional for members at Promontory?

A: An exceptional golf experience at Promontory starts before a club is ever pulled. It is the feeling of being known, welcomed, and taken care of the moment you arrive. From there, it is the consistency of our conditions, the energy of our team, and the intentionality behind every touchpoint. We talk a lot about being present, visible, and approachable, and when our team lives that out, it shows. When great golf meets genuine relationships, that is when the experience becomes something truly special.

Q: How do you approach helping members improve their game while keeping the experience enjoyable?

A: It starts with our team of teaching professionals and the environment we create. We want learning to feel natural, not forced. Our team does a great job of simplifying concepts, using games, and getting players on the golf course where improvement actually happens. We meet members where they are and build confidence through small wins. When players are enjoying the process and seeing progress, they stay engaged. That is when improvement really takes hold.

Q: What sets the golf experience at Promontory apart from other clubs or courses?

A: What sets Promontory apart is that we are not just delivering great golf, we are delivering a complete experience built around the member. Anyone can have a good golf course. Very few places create an environment where service, relationships, and experience are just as important as the golf itself. Our team is fully engaged, our culture is intentional, and our members feel it. There is an ease and authenticity here that allows people to truly relax and enjoy their time. That combination is what makes Promontory different.

Q: Are there unique aspects of the club or its setting that influence how you approach instruction and play?

A: Absolutely. One of the biggest is our Golf Academy at Promontory, what we call the GAP. It is a four bay teaching facility anchored by the GAP Fitting Studio by TaylorMade Golf, which allows us to seamlessly blend instruction and club fitting. Our teaching professionals can work on a player’s swing and immediately connect that to equipment, ball flight, and performance. That integration creates a more complete and personalized experience, and it allows our members to improve in a way that is both efficient and enjoyable.

Q: How does the design of Promontory’s courses enhance both the challenge and enjoyment for golfers of all levels?

A: Each course offers a different personality. Dye Canyon is dramatic and demands commitment, but it is incredibly fair if you pick your lines. Nicklaus gives you width off the tee and rewards thoughtful strategy into the greens. The Hills is more intimate and walkable, with angles and options that make it approachable and fun. Across all three, the teeing grounds allow players to choose their challenge. That balance keeps better players engaged while allowing newer players to have success and truly enjoy the round.

Q: How does Promontory foster a sense of community and connection among golfers here?

A: We are very intentional about creating shared experiences. Our events are designed to bring people together, whether that is competitive formats, casual games, or multi generational events like the Family Cup. But it goes beyond events. It is the day to day interactions, the way our team engages, and the comfort members feel when they are here. When people feel known and connected, the club becomes more than a place to play golf. It becomes a place they truly belong.

Q&A

A Q&A With Our Director of Events

Mejken Gielow

Q. What makes hosting an event at Promontory Club a unique experience for members and their guests?

A: At Promontory, events feel deeply personal because this is truly our members’ club—their home. There’s a strong sense of ownership and connection to each venue and experience. Members celebrate life’s biggest moments here, from weddings and milestone birthdays to corporate retreats and golf outings. It’s both a playground and a sanctuary, where guests are welcomed into something special. That combination of luxury, familiarity, and meaning creates an experience that feels elevated, yet genuinely personal.

Q. How do you ensure each event feels personalized while maintaining the high standards of the club?

A: For our members’ private events, personalization begins with listening—understanding each member’s vision and what will make their event truly meaningful. From there, we thoughtfully bring that vision to life. For club events, we begin by developing a clear concept, followed by collaborative planning across departments and a strong focus on execution. We also value the fresh ideas our members bring, which help us continually evolve. While each event is unique, our standards remain consistent through exceptional service, attention to detail, and seamless delivery.

Q. How does the club approach designing events that balance elegance, enjoyment, and memorable experiences?

A: We design events by blending refined service with experiences that feel effortless and fun. Our team draws inspiration from the diverse interests of our membership—wellness, travel, culinary experiences, live music, golf, tennis, and more—to create thoughtful, well-rounded events. Whether it’s an intimate dinner or a large celebration, we focus on flow, atmosphere, and guest engagement. The goal is always the same: create something beautiful and polished, while ensuring guests feel relaxed, connected, and fully immersed in the moment.

Q. Are there signature or seasonal events that embody the spirit of the Promontory community?

A: Promontory’s calendar is filled with signature events that truly reflect the spirit of our community. From cozy winter Après parties to Cars & Cocktails, Easter Festival, and Summer Concert Series, each season brings something special. Our Fourth of July celebration—with picnic, festivities, and fireworks—is a standout, along with our Annual Promontory Foundation event, raising money for local non-profits. We round out the year with family favorites like Hannukah Dinner, Winter Sleigh Rides, our Community Christmas Tree Lighting, and Brunch with Santa. Every event is designed to create meaningful, shared traditions.

Q. In what ways do Promontory’s setting and amenities enhance the events experience?

A: Promontory’s setting is a major part of what makes events here so remarkable. With sweeping mountain views, beautifully designed venues, and a wide range of amenities, every event feels elevated from the start. Whether it’s an outdoor gathering overlooking Beach Club at sunset, a refined dinner by the fireplace in the Outfitter’s Cabin, or the final shootout celebration for a golf tournament on the 18th green of the Nicklaus Painted Valley Course, the surroundings naturally enhance the experience. The variety of spaces allows us to match each event perfectly to its tone and purpose.

Q. What tips would you offer members to fully enjoy or maximize their participation in the club’s events?

A: The best way to maximize your experience at Promontory is to explore it fully. With unique amenities and a dynamic calendar of events, there’s always something new to enjoy. We encourage members to try different venues, attend a mix of social and family-focused events, and lean into the variety offered throughout the year. Whether you’re celebrating a major milestone, line dancing with friends, gathering for mahjong or exploring the regions of the world through wine tasting, there are endless opportunities to create meaningful memories with family and friends.

Built by the Mountains: The Cultural Roots of Park City’s Architecture

Built by the Mountains: The Cultural Roots of Park City’s Architecture 116 P R O M O N TO R Y C U R AT E D

The Origins of Park City

People know the city for its rampant ski culture, but Park City was once a silver mining town. It flourished throughout the late 19th century, quickly becoming one of the most productive and wealthy towns of its kind in the Utah Territory. As miners, entrepreneurs and their families arrived, Main Street became the central hub catering to everyone from business owners to restaurateurs.

In fact, modern-day Main Street is a bit like walking back in time. The Main Street Historic District, listed in 1979 on the National Register of Historic Places, is home to some of the most immaculately kept and preserved examples of Queen Anne and Victorian architecture.

One iconic example is the Egyptian Theatre, opened in 1926 and built in a vibrant Egyptian Revival style. While the authentic Egyptian details, from hieroglyphics to lotus leaf motifs, have been somewhat compromised over the years, the community’s preservation efforts ensured that the structure remains largely intact.

The Park City Museum, meanwhile, is set in the former City Hall directly on Main Street. Established in 1984, it eventually expanded to include both the Old Library and the Bell Tower, sometimes known as the Fire Whistle Tower.

Beyond Main Street

While there are old-world influences peppered all over town, modern residential enclaves in Park City evoke a feeling of natural beauty coupled with contemporary influence. At the same time, the balance of properties is impressive and worth noting for anyone interested in procuring a more established home. From carefully kept miner’s cottages and humble bungalows to glossy condominiums, the options are vast for homebuyers of all stripes.

There is careful attention paid to the “mountain modern” design concept, which has emerged over the years as an elevated aesthetic that beautifully bridges the gap between the inside and outside of the home. Details like floor-to-ceiling windows, abundant use of natural materials, like limestone sourced from local quarries and locally harvested wood, and rich metals all come together to reveal a style that’s suitable for the modern Park City homeowner.

Those elements bring the outside in, often providing exquisite views of the surrounding Wasatch Range while inviting a constant stream of natural light into the home. Outdoor spaces are equally relevant, often serving as an extension of the home with useful elements that expand the living space significantly. Roomy, furnished patios, gardens filled with native plant life, and outdoor kitchens all define Park City yards.

Western Victorian style is another of the region’s most defining residential styles. One of the most notable examples is the Ellsworth J. Beggs House. The circa-1914 property is one of the only two-story Victorian homes in the entire city. The Victorian-era homes in Park City are a clear reflection of their mining roots, evidenced in everything from the materials to the steep rooftops to the porch railings.

When the Past Meets the Future

Whether a carefully preserved storefront on Main Street or a sleek mountain modern estate, the architecture in Park City reflects both the city’s roots and the evolving needs of modern homeowners.

The old-world design is rooted in a bygone era, and many of the properties maintain their original features. While the architecture may remain the same, many of the homes are modernized to reflect the needs of 21st-century homeowners. Elements like smaller windows and arched doors may remain, yet interiors may now feature more spacious kitchens or great rooms that expand living spaces to create a more open and connected feel in the home.

The general idea behind any of these styles is that each offers a sense of balance. Whether crisply up to date with cutting-edge technology or featuring design elements from the past, there is always a nod to Park City’s roots that’s evident at every turn. It is largely seen in the usage of natural and locally sourced materials that serve as a consistent reminder of the home’s mountain environment.

Inside Utah: Trends and Timeless Style Inspired by the Landscape

Inside Utah: Trends and Timeless Style Inspired by the Landscape 124 P R O M O N TO R Y C U R AT E D

A Preference for Simplicity

Utah-inspired interiors favor restraint over excess.

Utah’s dramatic landscapes have long influenced the way homeowners approach interior design. From the red rock deserts of the south to the alpine scenery surrounding Park City, the state’s natural beauty inspires spaces that feel grounded, comfortable, and refined. Rather than relying on passing trends, Utah interiors often reflect a lasting connection to the outdoors through thoughtful materials, warm tones, and understated design.

The appeal lies in clean lines, natural textures, and spaces that feel calm rather than overly styled. Wood, stone, linen, and metal are frequently used to create warmth and depth without overwhelming the room.

Neutral palettes remain central to the aesthetic, though they rarely feel stark. Warm grays, taupes, creams, and earthy shades help establish an inviting atmosphere while allowing architectural details and surrounding views to stand out. The result is a style that feels timeless, practical, and closely tied to the environment.

Drawing Inspiration From the Landscape

The state’s scenery naturally informs many design choices. Southern Utah’s red rock formations inspire rust, clay, terracotta, and iron tones, while the mountain regions bring in cooler textures such as pale woods, native stone, and soft natural fibers. Together, these influences create interiors that feel balanced and layered.

Even homeowners who prefer a more minimal approach often incorporate subtle nods to the landscape through texture and material selection. A stone fireplace, reclaimed wood beams, or matte finishes can introduce warmth without making a space feel overly rustic.

Modern Design With Softer Edges

Contemporary Utah homes frequently combine minimalist architecture with more comfortable, organic elements. Clean lines and open layouts remain popular, particularly in Park City, but many homeowners are moving away from spaces that feel overly stark.

To soften modern interiors, designers often incorporate brushed brass finishes, sculptural lighting, curved furniture, and layered textiles. These additions bring texture and character into the home while maintaining a streamlined aesthetic. The overall effect feels sophisticated yet approachable.

A Life Above the Ordinary: Recreation, Dining and Community in Park City

Building a Natural Foundation

Many Utah homes begin with a foundation rooted in natural materials and abundant light. Wide-plank oak flooring, exposed beams, and native stone fireplaces help connect the interior to the surrounding landscape. Large windows are equally important, especially in mountain communities where panoramic views become a defining design feature.

In Park City, expansive glass walls maximize sunlight throughout the year while framing views of the Wasatch Mountains. During winter months, reflected light from the snow brightens interiors naturally and reinforces the connection between indoors and outdoors.

Expanding Living Spaces Outdoors

Utah’s four-season climate makes outdoor living an important part of the home. Retractable glass walls, oversized sliding doors, and covered patios allow entertaining spaces to extend seamlessly outside.

Rather than functioning as simple recreational areas, outdoor spaces are often designed with the same level of comfort as interior rooms. Layered seating, weather-resistant fabrics, ambient lighting, and fire features create gathering spaces that can be enjoyed throughout much of the year. Greenery and seasonal plantings further strengthen the connection to the surrounding environment.

A Style Rooted in Place

What makes Utah interiors distinctive is their ability to feel both elevated and deeply connected to their surroundings. The emphasis on natural materials, thoughtful simplicity, and outdoor integration creates homes that are warm, livable, and enduring.

Instead of chasing short-lived trends, Utah design continues to draw from the landscape itself, resulting in spaces that feel authentic to the region and timeless in their appeal.

A Life Above the Ordinary

Recreation, Dining and Community in Park City

THE PRIVATE CLUB ON MAIN STREET

Surrounded by the snow-capped peaks of the Wasatch Mountains, the community of Park City brims with a certain old-world winter charm that is not experienced anywhere else in the world. While the mountainous city stands out for its many outdoor activities, it is also a hub for shopping, dining and cultural connections. Recreation and entertainment in Park City are a year-round pursuit for anyone who chooses to make their home here.

YOUR HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Beyond the Slopes

Park City brims with excitement during every season. Sitting at an elevation between 6,800 and 10,000 feet, the town experiences the best of its long winters and notably mild summers in equal measures. The climate largely shapes the trajectory of how each day is spent. Ski culture is central, with people flocking to destinations like the circa-1981 Deer Valley Resort to enjoy both a day on the slopes and a storybook escape. It is known in particular for its skier-only policy and emphasis on pristine slope conditions. This approach really defines skiing in Park City, sharpening the expectations of enthusiasts who expect nothing but the best of any outdoor activity here. When the snow melts, however, there is still plenty to do. The Park City trail network is the connective tissue that runs through neighborhoods and fosters a sense of community. The Round Valley trail system is another option, offering 56 miles of trails suitable for both beginners and experts. Meanwhile, the Mid Mountain Twist stretches to around 26 miles, leading bikers, hikers and nature lovers through aspen groves and alpine meadows. The popular Glenwild Loop is a picturesque spot known for its exquisite city views. Another significant Park City outdoor activity is golfing. The city features multiple public and private courses, all within proximity of downtown Park City.

The cuisines are just as varied as the establishments.

A Lively Food Scene

Downtown Park City is a foodie’s dream, complete with an array of eateries ranging from upscale fine dining and chic cafés to old-world saloons. The cuisines are just as varied as the establishments, with Thai, Japanese, Italian and more mouthwatering fare all on the menu. Main Street alone is home to over 50 restaurants, so no matter what you may be craving, it is likely on this popular thoroughfare.

Among the highlights of Park City’s culinary scene is Savor the Summit, the city’s annual outdoor dinner party that transforms Historic Main Street into a vibrant alfresco dining experience. Participating restaurants line the street with tables, offering gourmet dishes, craft cocktails, and live music for an unforgettable evening. This celebration of local flavors and hospitality has become a signature way to welcome summer in Park City, drawing food lovers from near and far.

There is a significant emphasis on locality that courses through the Park City dining scene. Many establishments rely strictly on ingredients sourced from area farms, with seasonal items adding a native flourish to meals. It is a winning situation for both parties, as it encourages a robust economy and harnesses the area’s freshest ingredients.

The vibe here is quaint and charming.

The Heart and Soul of Park City

There is no better way to really get to know a place than to visit its main road. In Park City, that happens to be the historic Main Street, which absolutely brims with character, charm and a plethora of boutiques, galleries and specialty shops. They are all within easy walking distance, giving residents a leisurely option for relaxation while spending time in the community. Not only is it just minutes from Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain, but it is also the central hub for excitement, engagement, and energy in the city.

Outside of Main Street and the hills, Park City also has several larger dedicated retail spots with boutiques, equipment stores and casual shops. With its laid-back vibe and ruddy facade, the Redstone Shopping Center mirrors its home city’s peaceful atmosphere. There is also lively Junction Commons, a must-stop outlet mall for anyone looking for luxurious finds on a budget.

That quintessential community spirit is a key part of Park City’s retail scene. Galleries and artisan shops both cater to those seeking items that cannot be found elsewhere, from local works to handcrafted goods. The vibe here is quaint and charming, due largely to the presence of both unique shops and historic architecture that set the tone and nod to the city’s mining roots.

Four Seasons of Splendor in Winter’s Favorite Town

In the valley between the magnificent Wasatch Mountain Range and the Uinta Plateau sits Park City, long renowned for its abundance of idyllic ski slopes. However, this mountain community provides plenty of options for activities and recreation beyond skiing, offering truly year-round adventures.

World-Renowned Skiing

The Park City winter season for skiing and snowboarding runs from November through April. Park City Mountain is the largest ski resort in the United States, with 7,300 acres of mixed terrain from steep to gentle grades, where skiers of all skill levels can take to the slopes. June through September provides summertime activities here, such as hiking, mountain biking, scenic lift rides and days on the nearby lakes. The distinguished Deer Valley Resort grants ski-in, ski-out access and over 200 runs and 31 chairlifts. This ski-only resort is undergoing expansion to include the addition of seven chairlifts, including a 10-person gondola and an increase in the skiable terrain to 5,700 acres. Woodward Park City delivers year-round mountain sports to satisfy an array of preferences, including a skate park along with skiing, snowboarding and tubing on its 125 acres. Most activities are suitable for ages six and up, with classes and sessions at the micro clubhouse, which includes a foam pit, climbing wall and mini trampoline, for ages one through five. Parental supervision, however, is required.

Picturesque Piste

One of the best views in this mountain paradise is from Jupiter Peak, Park City Mountain Resort’s highest peak at just over 10,000 feet, accessible to expert skiers and snowboarders via a series of lifts.

Snowshoeing through snow-dusted trees provides a more intimate and peaceful opportunity for experiencing Park City from a different perspective.

The Gambel Oak Loop presents grandiose views of Deer Valley, Park City and the surrounding peaks, along with chance encounters with wildlife on the mostly moderate path.

The McPolin Farm Nature Trail is a popular choice for those who prefer a leisurely stroll. This easy paved path takes visitors through luscious green meadows and over a creek to a white barn built in the 1920s and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Reservoirs and Lakes

When the snow melts, the multitude of pristine reservoirs and lakes summon hikers to experience the awe of nature. Traversing through these untouched settings imparts chance encounters with wildlife, such as deer, elk, moose, coyotes and foxes.

Visitors to the Jordanelle Dam and Reservoir, a 9-mile drive from Park City, may enjoy hiking the 5.8-mile Jordanelle Perimeter Trail West, complete with beach access and the chance to observe local birds, such as Swainson’s Thrush, Green-tailed Towhee and Hairy Woodpeckers. This moderate-level hike takes experienced hikers about 2.5 hours to complete.

For those seeking a shorter and easier footpath, the Wada Way and Keetley Trails are both under two miles and take just over an hour to complete, or they can be combined to create a popular 3.1-mile loop. Rewards for completing this feat include striking views of the Wasatch Mountains and the Jordanelle Reservoir.

At the Deer Creek Reservoir, approximately 24 miles from Park City, explorers trekking the just-over-8-mile Deer Creek Trail are granted scenic mountain views and easy access to Deer Creek’s western shore. Besides hiking, the area reservoirs present generous opportunities for water activity, such as swimming, boating, paddleboarding, fishing, or simply relaxing on the beach.

Park City’s location also offers mountain hiking trails to alpine lakes, such as Red Pine, Lake Blanche, Willow Lake and Lakes Mary, Martha and Catherine. Those seeking a moderate hike may appreciate the Alpine Lake Trail, a 10-mile journey from White Pine Trailhead, which hosts spectacular lake and mountain views. These alpine lakes feed into the Salt Lake City watershed, so dogs and swimming are prohibited.

Tee Time on the Greens

Golfers take to the greens at Park City’s seven public and eight private golf courses, each distinctly unique. Golfers can sharpen their skills on the practice and putting greens before taking to the 18 holes at Park City Golf Club.

Soldier Hollow furnishes golfers with two 18-hole courses. The shorter Silver course consists of wider fairways and displays a stunning view of Mount Timpanogos. Champion golfers take to the Gold course, with its tighter, undulating fairways and elevation changes throughout each hole and within the course.

Nature and Adventure Abound in Park City

Whatever your passion or preference, Park City’s expansive mountains and breathtaking views satisfy the call of the wild.

Park City’s Rise to Prominence

The Story Behind This World-Class Destination

Once a silver mining town, it now ranks among the world’s premier four-season luxury destinations. Though the 2002 Winter Games placed it in the global spotlight, its rise is best attributed to an ever-evolving vision for high-altitude luxury. That legacy continues as Park City prepares for the 2034 Winter Olympics, ushering in another opportunity to redefine alpine excellence. This is the story of how Park City claimed its place on the world stage — and where it is headed next.

Built on Silver, Reinvented by Snow

We should talk. In the late 19th century, the discovery of silver in the mountains attracted prospectors and settlers eager to stake their claim. Naturally, a town and railroad followed as the miners’ families transplanted themselves to the area. For decades, silver sustained the town, and by 1928, Park City had become the single largest silver producer in the nation. But silver was a volatile trade. By the 1970s, Park City’s mining economy had all but collapsed. What remained was a town rich in history but uncertain about its future. Rather than fading into obscurity, the town adapted, turning to its greatest natural asset — the mountains themselves. The answer had been there all along: the same rugged peaks that once

concealed silver would become the foundation of an entirely different kind of fortune.

The Dawn of a New Era in Park City

In 1963, Treasure Mountain — the town’s first ski resort, now the Park City Mountain Resort — opened on the site of a former mine. With its arrival, skiers replaced prospectors, and chairlifts took the place of mine carts, transforming Park City from a relic of the past to a winter destination with boundless potential.

What was once a town built on extraction has become a destination of rare distinction. Today, modern ski lifts glide over centuries-old facades, and five-star accommodations cozy up to historic landmarks, their presence a testament to a town that refused to be left behind.

Putting Park City on the Map: Amenities and Infrastructure

Park City’s ascent to prominence results from decades of investment in infrastructure and exclusive accommodations designed to attract high-class travelers and winter athletes. Every addition has molded a mountain retreat where one can carve fresh powder in the morning, spend the afternoon browsing high-end shops and galleries, then enjoy an evening indulging at a world-class restaurant.

Winter Sports Resorts

Park City is a paragon of luxury skiing, with meticulously groomed runs across thousands of acres of varied terrain. The development of several world-class resorts, such as Deer Valley® Resort and Park City Mountain, contributed to the city gaining such a renowned status. While its prominence may seem intimidating, the town’s infrastructure also caters to beginners. Woodward Park City, for example, provides a high-energy training ground unlike any other. It’s a 125-acre campus with an outdoor area encompassing learning and freestyle zones to develop and improve skiing skills.

A Destination for All Seasons

As winter fades into spring, Park City trades powder-filled chutes for alpine fairways and high-altitude hiking trails. Golfers can play a round against mountain panoramas, while mountain bikers take on IMBA Gold-Level trails, a designation held by just six destinations worldwide. The Provo and Weber Rivers also offer world-class fly fishing adventures, with several trout species in abundance. Investment in warm-weather activities and amenities has ensured Park City stands out as an exceptional year-round destination.

The Historic Main Street

Main Street is Park City’s social heartbeat, where historic architecture now frames designer storefronts, chef-driven restaurants, and upscale art galleries. By night, speakeasy-style lounges and intimate live music venues draw a crowd that favors exclusivity. The town’s cultural scene is equally immersive — events such as summertime’s Kimball Arts Festival promise endless entertainment for both locals and visitors.

The 2034 Games will likely draw record-breaking crowds.

The Countdown to 2034

With Salt Lake City set to host the 2034 Winter Olympics, preparations are already underway to once again anticipate the needs of a global audience. And, with Park City marked as one of the primary skiing and snowboarding event locations, locals can expect to see exciting developments over the coming years, such as improved accessibility and transport. The 2034 Games will likely draw record-breaking crowds, filling grandstands, lodges, and après-ski lounges across the city. But for those who would prefer a more private vantage point to experience the Olympic spirit, Promontory Club offers a level of hospitality and accessibility that no other community can replicate. It promises to provide fantastic access to the heart of the action while maintaining the exclusivity of a world-class retreat.

The 2002 Winter Olympics

When Salt Lake City secured the bid for the 2002 Winter Olympics, Park City became the backdrop for some of the Games’ most defining moments. Park City Mountain Resort staged events like the men’s and women’s giant slalom and the snowboarding halfpipe, where the U.S. men’s team swept the podium — with Ross Powers, Danny Kass, and Jarret Thomas claiming gold, silver, and bronze. These Games were record-breaking in ticket sales, with 95% of available tickets sold to more than 1.5 million buyers.

Today, the 400-acre Utah Olympic Park — or UOP, as the locals call it — remains both a training ground for upcoming Olympians and a thrilling outdoor playground for adventure enthusiasts. For those who wish to learn more about the 2002 Games, the Eccles Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Winter Games Museum and Alf Engen Ski Museum, both located in the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center, can be found at the UOP.

Looking Ahead

From its mining days through its transition into a world-class ski destination, Park City has undergone a magnificent journey of development and modernization. What is unique is its never-ending connection to nature; with each innovation, the beauty and magic of the mountains have remained at the forefront of Park City’s identity. As the region looks forward to the next ten years and the 2034 Winter Olympics, nowhere can offer a better front-row seat to the action than Promontory Club.
