ROSEWOOD HOTEL GEORGIA

Welcome

Since first opening its doors in 1927, the hotel has stood as one of Vancouver’s most iconic gathering places—bringing together travelers, creatives, and the local community in an atmosphere of timeless elegance and understated luxury. Today, that legacy continues, thoughtfully reimagined to reflect both the history of the property and the energy of the city that surrounds it.

Following a recent transformation, the hotel offers a renewed sense of place—where heritage details meet contemporary design, and each space has been carefully considered to feel both refined and inviting. Our residential-style accommodations are complemented by a dynamic collection of dining destinations that continue to evolve with the seasons.

At Reflections The Garden Terrace, guests will find a lush, open-air retreat—one of the city’s most distinctive settings—offering seasonal menus, garden-inspired cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere shaped by rotating programming throughout the year. Inside, the Georgia Bar presents a more intimate, art deco–inspired experience, with live music, expertly crafted cocktails, and an elevated bar menu that has made it a longstanding favorite. 1927 Lounge offers a sophisticated yet relaxed setting for all-day dining, including the introduction of a newly reimagined afternoon tea, designed to reflect both tradition and a modern sense of occasion.

These experiences, alongside our award-winning Sense Spa and thoughtful amenities, contribute to a stay that is both dynamic and deeply restorative. The hotel’s continued recognition, including being named among the top hotels in Canada by Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards, reflects our ongoing commitment to excellence and creating meaningful guest experiences.

At the heart of our approach is a commitment to intuitive, personalized service. We believe true hospitality is found in the details: anticipating needs, creating moments of ease, and ensuring that every stay feels effortless and genuine.

As you settle into your accommodation, we invite you to explore the latest issue of our Experiences magazine, where you will find curated recommendations from our team, as well as highlights of the amenities and services available throughout your stay.

ROSEWOOD HOTEL GEORGIA

Our Story

EXPERIENCES

Following its grand debut in the roaring ’20s, Hotel Georgia came to be known as a Vancouver legend for bringing unheard-of luxuries to the young city and Canada’s West Coast.

Over the decades, the legendary Hotel Georgia played host to a long list of Hollywood icons and royalty, from John and Ethel Barrymore, Marlene Dietrich (and her 40 suitcases) and Errol Flynn to Sir Laurence Olivier, John Wayne and Gary Cooper. But, the red carpet was literally rolled out for two of the hotel’s earliest guests—British royalty, indeed. HRH Edward, Prince of Wales and his brother George, the Duke of Kent stayed in 1927 while in Vancouver for the Seaforth Highlander’s Ball, a gala event celebrated at the hotel.

In the Jazz Era, radio was king. For over a decade up to 1941, British Columbia’s most popular radio station, CKWX, broadcast from its studio on the penthouse level of the Hotel Georgia. Why? When it debuted in 1927, the hotel was the very definition of innovation, from its all-electric kitchen to its extra-long beds for guests of tall stature, and it offered the radio station the finest wiring in town capable of delivering the Jazz and Big Band melodies from downstairs direct to the station above.

When Katharine Hepburn strode into the hotel’s lobby for the first time in 1950, the indomitable screen legend handed the manager, Mr. Bill Hudson, her list of requirements and, in doing so, introduced late-night room service at the Hotel Georgia. Preferring to retire for dinner in the privacy of her room, she did not care to frequent the dining room or any other local establishment. Wearing her trademark pants because she didn’t own a dress, the trail-blazing Ms. Hepburn stepped into the elevator, and that was that.

Entertainment impresario Hugh Pickett’s favourite place to host the immortals of show business he welcomed to Vancouver—from titans of entertainment such as Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, Rat Packers Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr., and The Rolling Stones, to the divas and prima donnas of opera and ballet—was the Hotel Georgia. By mid-century, the young city of Vancouver was a must for performers as well as a destination of choice for well-heeled travellers. Most of Bing Crosby’s stopovers in the city were en route to Canada’s salmon fishing grounds further north. In 1957, the year Elvis Presley recorded “All Shook Up” and filmed the classic “Jailhouse Rock,” he also rock ‘n’ rolled his way to Hotel Georgia’s penthouse suite.

After undergoing a full renovation and reopening in 2011 as Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the hotel has been returned to its former grandeur with the additional elegance of extensive amenities and the impeccable service of Rosewood. From the painstaking restoration of old world craftsmanship to the installation of the most luxurious furnishings and latest technology, Rosewood Hotel Georgia offers an unmatched combination of legacy and luxury—a return to the golden age of hotel travel.

Our Story

Renovation of Rosewood Hotel Georgia

OUR COMPREHENSIVE RENOVATION OF THE ICONIC ROSEWOOD HOTEL GEORGIA

Meet our reimagined accommodations and culinary concepts designed to capture the cultural spirit of the city.

Renowned as Vancouver’s most fashionable retreat, Rosewood Hotel Georgia underwent an extensive five-month renovation. Our reopening in June 2024 also marked the debut of an entirely new dining destination, The Georgia Bar, further strengthening our robust culinary program and paying homage to the iconic and beloved personalities that once traversed through its corridors. Meticulously curated to serve as the ultimate gathering place for culturally minded travelers and local aesthetes, Rosewood Hotel Georgia celebrates the history and heritage of Vancouver within a modern setting, complemented by an array of singular experiences. First opened in 1927 as Hotel Georgia, the property was last renovated in 2011 when it was introduced as Rosewood Hotel Georgia.

SENSORIAL ROOMS AND SUITES

Rosewood Hotel Georgia partnered with New York-based design firm Lillian Wu Studio for the redesign of our 156 rooms and suites. Reflecting the epitome of refined comfort and sophistication, the accommodations were thoughtfully crafted as a sensorial experience with details such as leather-wrapped accessories, plush, tufted headboards, horn handles with bronze patina holders, and hand-blown glass fixtures. With a color palette reflecting tranquil hues juxtaposed with patterned furnishings and jewel-toned accents, the rooms and suites offer guests an atmosphere of serenity and timeless luxury.

Reflecting Rosewood’s A Sense of Place® philosophy, elegant nods to the property’s singular location are woven throughout, such as silver leaf-painted glass resembling the Pacific Dogwood, the provincial flower of British Columbia, as well as works of art curated by Howard495 Art Advisory Firm.

Serving as the crown jewels of the property, the Lord Stanley Suite and Rosewood Suite were renovated in 2021 and embody the bold spirit of the iconic guests who have visited over the hotel’s almost hundred-year history. The 1,280 square-foot 12th-floor Lord Stanley Suite, adorned in gold and royal hues with distinctive fixtures, features two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living room, a dining area for up to six people, and a terrace with a private plunge pool, outdoor fireplace, and unobstructed views of Vancouver. Similarly luxurious, the 1,492 square-foot Rosewood Suite, inspired by the verdant Pacific Northwest, offers two bedrooms, two baths, a spacious living area, and a rooftop garden terrace for up to 20 guests. Modern with sleek silhouettes and graphic patterns, it can connect to an additional room for a three-bedroom setup and includes a private plunge pool and fireplace with bird's-eye views of Vancouver.

Our Story

Revival of a Legendary Lobby and 1927 Lounge

Vancouver-based design firm Ste. Marie Studio is at the helm of our redesigned public spaces including the lobby and adjacent culinary concepts. Channeling the opulence of the Roaring 20s, the Lobby balances the jubilance and elegance typical of that era while layering in a sense of locality and warmth synonymous with the Rosewood brand. Moody marbles and plush green velvets are contrasted with contemporary flair and punches of colorful textiles that effortlessly link both the Front Desk area and 1927 Lounge dining space. Designed to celebrate the rich history of the city, the newly refined bi-level 1927 Lounge shines a light on the prestigious narratives of downtown Vancouver while continuing to offer fine dining and artisanal cocktails. Creating a hub of activity and entertainment for visiting guests and locals alike, the 1927 Lounge features live performances from R&B, Jazz, and Soul artists on selective nights and special occasions. The musical soul of the space is further emphasized by the sounds of a custom Fazioli Pianoforti Model F183 Art Case Edition in California Walnut, which serves as the perfect accompaniment for world-class acts that can be enjoyed from both 1927 as well as the new adjacent The Georgia Bar.

INTRODUCING THE GEORGIA BAR

Embodying the spirit of the gilded art deco era, The Georgia Bar is our new mixology-focused concept, centered around a dramatic, u-shaped Arabescatto Orobico marble-top bar with a backdrop of stately mahogany-paneled walls and marble checkerboard floors.

Rosewood Hotel Georgia has undergone an immense transformation, and we are honored to welcome back our neighbors and guests to rediscover Vancouver’s storied icon.
Safwan Abu RishehManaging Director at Rosewood Hotel Georgia
Our renovated rooms and suites were distinctly designed to envelope guests in residential style hospitality, providing comfort and warmth with a modern lens. Through the revitalization of 1927 Lounge, as well as the debut of The Georgia Bar and later this year, the reopening of our year-round Reflections Terrace, Rosewood Hotel Georgia will further solidify its position as the social epicenter of Vancouver, offering travelers and locals alike a world-class experience inspired by this dynamic destination.
Safwan Abu RishehManaging Director at Rosewood Hotel Georgia

Cocooning guests are bespoke, custom furnishings produced by artisan makers in Europe outfitted in soft upholsteries of crushed velvets and rich leather, ornate crystal fixtures, unique archival objects, and an eclectic art collection, all infusing the ambiance with both elegance and character. The Georgia Bar’s cocktail program will transport guests to a storied world honoring the luminaries and tales that are central to the hotel’s history. Complex in artistry and technique, the mixology program places the guest experience first, with varying flavor profiles all centered around high-quality and often painstakingly sourced ingredients.

Taking guests on a journey through the heart and history of Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the signature cocktail menu features odes to the property’s heritage, with selections including the Patricia, a spirit-forward cocktail that takes its name from the “Patricia Room,” a dedicated space for HRH Edward, Prince of Wales, dating from the original hotel’s grand opening; and The Herrick, a wine-based cocktail with elements of Earl Grey tea and Verjus Blanc that pays tribute to Fred Herrick who served as the property’s shoe shiner for 54 years.

We carefully curated The Georgia Bar’s culinary program to immerse guests in the greater Vancouver area, traversing through the flavors of the small yet culturally diverse communities that make up this one-of-a-kind enclave. Found on the menu at The Georgia Bar and nowhere else in Vancouver are Canadian “Caviar bumps,” offering guests a taste of sustainably sourced and flavorful caviar paired with fine wine and spirits. Additional bar snacks featured on the menu include Chicken Fried Maitake, Paani Poori, and Brioche Vada Pav Sliders.

PROPHECY BY AT HOME HOSPITALITY

Located in a storied space beneath the hotel, the recently opened Prophecy is a brand-new concept designed to seamlessly blend classic sophistication with modern allure, paying homage to the legacy of Rosewood Hotel Georgia and its role in the past and future elegant nightlife in Vancouver.

At the helm of our cocktail program is an award-winning team who have collaboratively created a cocktail menu inspired by writers, poets, musicians, and artists. Prophecy's food menu features a range of elevated, shareable options tailored to various tastes, ranging from familiar favorites to indulgent seafood selections. Noteworthy dishes include the decadent A5 Wagyu Katsu Sando. Adding to the food and beverage experience are state-of-the-art digital works by Apollo, a pioneer in progressive technology.

DYNAMIC ART COLLECTION

Building upon the established collection at Rosewood Hotel Georgia, the property's artwork has been seamlessly incorporated throughout the hotel to provide guests with a unique cultural immersion. The collection showcases a diverse array of modern artists – from blue-chip and mid-career to emerging contemporary talents – across various mediums, including paintings, prints, photography, and sculptures.

Collaborating exclusively with local and national galleries and artists, the hotel looked toward the already-held works from Canadian modern masters like Guido Molinari, Marcel Barbeau, and Jack Shadbolt for curatorial direction. Inspired by these iconic figures, the new artworks elevate the collection that places Canadian art within a broader global dialogue, enhancing the hotel’s art program and providing guests with an unparalleled cultural experience.

EXPERIENTIAL PROGRAMMING

To further immerse guests in the vibrant culinary spirit of Vancouver, we have introduced its bookable Master Class series led by our own talented food and beverage team.

Guests will be personally guided through Vancouver’s Granville Island market, hand-selecting locally sourced and hyper-seasonal ingredients that they will then craft into both a signature dish and a paired cocktail. Constantly shifting based on which Pacific Northwest delicacies are in prime harvest, the series not only offers an immersive experience that dives beneath the surface, but also an educational lesson in sustainable and hyper-local cuisine.

Reimagining the Art Collection

REIMAGINING

THE ROSEWOOD HOTEL GEORGIA'S ART COLLECTION

By Krista Howard, Director Howard495

We were honoured and welcomed the opportunity to spearhead the reimagining of the Rosewood Hotel Georgia's art collection. As a beloved iconic institution, woven into the fabric of the city, the Rosewood’s rich history has left an indelible mark on the cultural landscape of Vancouver and crowned the hotel as the cornerstone of the city's art and hospitality scene.

Howard495’s curation, spanning across disciplines and generational dialogue, drew inspiration from Canada's rich tradition of portraying the landscape, modern abstraction, and the vibrant photography scene of Vancouver. Building upon the foundations laid by Canadian artists such as Guido Molinari, Marcel Barbeau, and Jack Shadbolt, already held in the hotel’s collection, we aimed to explore the interplay of influence and inspiration between these artists, their students, and other artists working today. We intended to create a harmonious dialogue between the artwork and the historical setting, bridging the gap in an engaging manner between past and present with an eye to the future.

Aligned with Rosewood’s philosophy of “a sense of place” and their commitment to reflecting local culture, we elected to juxtapose artists from across Canada at all stages of their careers and to carry the art program throughout the property; unfolding in the lobby, moving up into the beautifully appointed upper floor suites. This approach has fostered a dynamic atmosphere of elegance and sophistication engendering an unforgettable guest experience that feels familiar and relevant. The work transcends its geographical location, offering guests comfort and a sense of home while enriching their cultural experience.

Embracing the live music that enriches the hotel’s ambiance, we leaned into the longstanding tradition of music catalyzing artistic expression, fostering a dialogue between auditory and visual senses. Intimate moments are captured in Francois Lacasse’s abstract works displayed in the Piano Lounge, Janet Werner’s elegant figures featured in 1927, and in Andrew Olcott’s Sound Waves, installed across corridor landings from levels 3 to 12.

By featuring artists with active practices, primarily Canadian but with global appeal, we ensure the collection's relevance within the broader art world. Crucially, this endeavour aligns with the hotel's commitment to looking forward to the future, serving as a cultural nexus in Vancouver, where art, music, and design converge to create a unique guest experience. Through Howard495's curation, the Rosewood Hotel Georgia invites guests to immerse themselves in a world where artistry and hospitality seamlessly intertwine, reinforcing its status as a premier cultural destination.

Providing a personalized, collaborative approach, we at Howard495 Art Advisory specialize in building purposeful collections that align with all of our client’s collecting needs. Working with both new and seasoned collectors in the private, corporate, and commercial sectors worldwide we specialize in the meticulous curation, acquisition, and fulfillment of diverse art collections across all sectors and disciplines.

BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA

PING IN VANCOUVER

People come to Vancouver for many reasons. The mountains, Pacific beaches and pristine wilderness attract outdoor lovers from around the world. The city has thriving art, theatre and music scenes, and it has also become a veritable culinary magnet for foodies.

Sometimes you want to experience all of that. And sometimes you just want to go shopping.

SOUTH GRANVILLE

On the south side of the Granville Bridge, extending to West 16th Avenue, is the South Granville shopping district. It’s an eclectic blend of luxury boutiques, international brands, European designers, furniture and homeware stores, high-end antiques and gourmet grocery shops. South Granville is also home to Vancouver’s main entertainment district: nightclubs, cafés and restaurants share the real estate with the various retail venues. While browsing the shops, be sure to check out some of the many art galleries sprinkled throughout the area.

What the experts say...

The best things in life take time. Building a fine jewellery collection is no exception.

More than simple adornment, meaningful pieces reflect who you are. Each new addition is something to savour.

A bespoke creation can elevate your collection — from curated to singular.

Jewellery is a beautiful vessel for memory, tracing the chapters of your life from the joy of your first piece to the profound promise of an engagement ring. These are treasures to be loved in this lifetime, and cherished for generations to come.

At Astranova Jewellery, we’ve spent over twenty years guiding clients to their new favourite piece. Whether it’s a signature design or a rare find from our Vault, we take the time to understand you and discover exactly what you’re looking for.

When acquiring new jewellery, high quality craftsmanship and the right choice in precious metals and fine gemstones are essential. Like a fine art collection or classic cars, quality compounds over time.

ROBSON STREET

Stretching from downtown to the West End, Robson Street is Vancouver’s most popular retail strip. You’ll find a lot of familiar brands in everything from sunglasses and shoes to souvenirs, clothing and jewelry. The area between Burrard Street and Thurlow along Alberni is home to high-end shops where you can pick up watches and luxury apparel. And when all that browsing and buying has worked up an appetite, the area’s wide range of eating establishments – from quick takeaway meals to fine dining – will get you back on your feet with renewed energy to keep on shopping.

...a great place to find vintage clothing stores.

MAIN STREET

Vancouver’s Main Street is not the bustling downtown epicenter of so many other cities across North America. This mostly residential neighbourhood on the east side of town is a gathering place for hipsters and a great place to find vintage clothing stores, consignment shops, funky accessories and antiques that are a bit more budget-friendly than those on Robson Street. For a bit of refreshment, stop in at one of the trendy cafés or sit down for a cold brew. What’s more, along with its quirky shopping venues, the area has become the centre of Vancouver’s growing craft beer scene.

"...get a little retail therapy in."

GRANVILLE ISLAND

The name is a bit of a misnomer, as Granville Island is a peninsula that juts out into False Creek. What used to be an industrial manufacturing area is now home to a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, galleries, theatres, craft vendors and unique shops. Browse the stores for a while and then head over to the Granville Island Public Market. You can sample some local smoked salmon, artisan cheeses, fresh produce, luscious fudge and more. Be sure to check out the food hall and grab a bite from one of the many food vendors. Enjoy your meal inside or head back out to watch the street performers.

PACIFIC CENTRE

Vancouver is no stranger to rain, and Pacific Centre is a great indoor shopping experience when the skies are gloomy. The mall covers three city blocks and is home to over 100 businesses. From large anchor stores to small specialty shops and a food court, you’re sure to find what you’re looking for. Pacific Centre is located at 700 W. Georgia Street. It’s open from 10:00am to 9:00pm Monday-Saturday and 11:00am to 7:00pm on Sunday.

MCARTHURGLEN DESIGNER OUTLET VANCOUVER AIRPORT

The McArthurGlen Group is known as Europe’s leading owner, developer and manager of designer outlets. This European-style open-air outlet centre is located on Vancouver International Airport land. The large venue boasts charming piazzas, tree-lined streets, pedestrian-friendly walkways, striking architecture and public art pieces. Shoppers can also find a collection of North American and European luxury items, along with designer labels and savings of up to 70% year-round.

OUR ULTIMATE GUIDE TO EXPLORING VANCOUVER’S CHINATOWN

Spending a day in Chinatown, encompassed by the sights, sounds and smells of this vibrant, bustling neighbourhood, is an opportunity you don’t want to pass up when visiting Vancouver.

An incredible world within the city, Vancouver’s Chinatown is the largest in Canada and the third largest in North America.

Established in the 1890s, Chinatown slowly blossomed as migrant workers building the Trans-Canada Railway settled into different parts of the city.

Now, these six blocks of adventure, bordered by Gore Avenue, East Georgia Street, East Pender Street and Carrall Street, have expanded into the core of Chinese culture and symbolism in Canada.

Take a walking tour and experience the multicultural beauty of Chinatown.

We’ll guide you through different places, eats and events you don’t want to miss when exploring this amazing neighbourhood.

Where to Explore

WHERE TO EXPLORE

For those curious about the history of this neighbourhood, Chinatown is filled with countless historical sites, landmarks and museums that give a deep insight into Chinese culture. The Vancouver Chinatown Millennium Gate, one of Chinatown’s most popular sites, sits at the entrance and welcomes visitors. Built to honour the role the people of China played in developing Vancouver as a sign of unity between Eastern and Western cultures, this monumental structure is a living symbol of Chinatown’s multicultural heritage.

Take a stroll through one of Vancouver’s top tourist attractions, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden. This tranquil 60 green space gives a special peek into Chinese culture and symbolism with a variety of things to do and experience, like guided tours, exhibitions, festivals, concerts, receptions and educational programmes.

The Sam Kee Building, another Chinatown wonder, is just a minute’s walk from the garden. Known as the world’s narrowest commercial building at a little over 6 feet deep, it’s an interesting site to explore. For an in-depth look into Chinatown’s history, visit the many museums and the West Han Dynasty Bell, a gift from the city of Guangzhou to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the twinning of the two cities.

Local authentic gems grill barbecued meats and other tasty dishes using traditional Chinese techniques and styles. Enjoy a cocktail in a quiet environment or indulge at hole-in-the-wall restaurants.

Of course, we can’t forget dessert. A variety of cafés and bakeries serve delicious Chinese drinks and desserts such as bubble tea, red bean buns and egg tarts. Don’t forget to indulge in Chinese tea culture and enjoy a freshly brewed cup of tea with or after your meal.

Best Places to Shop

Shopping may not be the first thing that comes to mind when visiting, but Chinatown holds many interesting finds and surprises. When you enter through the Millennium Gate, the unique shops and markets of the International Village are the perfect place to find exclusive Chinese imports, clothes, furniture, jewellery and home decor.

Chinatown is also home to several Asian specialty stores, including Chinese medicine shops and apothecaries. Annual Events in Vancouver’s Chinatown

Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or some unique additions to your home decor, Vancouver’s Chinatown is dense with cultural flavour.

GASTOWN

Named after “Gassy” Jack Deighton, a Yorkshire sailor who arrived in 1867 to open the first saloon, this was the original settlement that became the city of Vancouver. It is a national historic site that features old brick buildings, antique streetlamps, restaurants, lounges and bars. Along with a gaggle of souvenir shops, you’ll find trendy boutiques and retail establishments selling clothing, housewares, gifts and much more. Water Street is Gastown’s main drag but be sure to venture down some of the side streets as well – you might just discover something you didn’t even know you were looking for. While you’re in Gastown, take a minute to snap a selfie with the Steam Clock at the corner of Cambie and Water Streets.

A View on Vancouverism

ARCHITECTURE AND ACTIVITIES IN THE CITY

While the beautiful city of Vancouver may not be the capital of British Columbia, it’s certainly one of the region’s most beloved destinations. Renowned for its idyllic intertwining of urban sophistication and stunning natural scenery, this one-of-a-kind city is at the heart of Western Canadian culture, setting itself apart as a luxury tourist destination like no other. Filled with exquisite architectural landmarks, an array of breathtaking green spaces, and a plethora of world-class shopping and dining districts, this enchanting city offers a range of distinctive experiences that captivate residents and visitors alike.

DEFINING VANCOUVERISM

A city that is the epitome of biophilic urbanism, Vancouver’s unique landscape is one of its most iconic and identifying features. Lovingly referred to as Vancouverism, this unique blend of urban growth and environmental sustainability has set this city apart. With a style that is typically characterized by striking high-rise buildings strategically separated by stunning local parks and open spaces, Vancouverism leads the way in conservation-focused development.

This style is defined by its philosophy of achieving a harmonious balance between dense, overwhelming city living and the picturesque natural world surrounding it. That philosophy has created a Vancouver skyline that is a testament to the city’s overwhelming appreciation for the luscious landscape that makes the region so special. Indeed, there is nothing quite as breathtaking as looking out across the Vancouver cityscape and its enchanting natural scenery. Residents and visitors alike can take in the beauty of Western Canada right in the middle of one of its most prestigious cities.

SCENIC PARKS AND LOVELY OPEN SPACES

One of the main advantages of the city’s dedication to Vancouverism is the unbelievable array of parks and open spaces spread throughout the metropolis. Truly a park lover’s paradise, this world-class city is brimming with beautiful green spaces waiting around nearly every corner, such as Stanley Park and the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Interspersed between award-winning restaurants, boutique shops, and domineering skyscrapers, these stunning spaces are an idyllic place to escape the hustle and bustle of Vancouver’s busy city streets.

A WALK ALONG THE WATERFRONT

Western Canada’s most prized waterfronts, the Vancouver coastline and iconic Seawall, are some of the city’s most splendid districts. Offering breathtaking views of the city skyline, backed by the spectacular Pacific Ocean and Coast Mountains, these pedestrian-friendly areas are filled not only with striking views but also with some of the very best outdoor activities and dining opportunities in the city.

Along the waterfront, tourists can find whale-watching tours that offer the best marine wildlife experiences. Professional wildlife experts conduct tours that not only allow participants to catch a glimpse of impressive creatures but also teach them about local flora and fauna.

VANCOUVER’S HIGH-END SHOPPING

Fashionistas are in luck, as the city is home to an abundance of renowned districts known for their unique luxury shopping opportunities. Robson Street is lined with exquisite designer boutiques and upscale stores that help to make it an idyllic destination for travellers looking for exclusive high-end fashion finds. The Downtown blocks are filled with luxury retailers and unique, smaller shops where guests can grab a charming souvenir to remember their time in this one-of-a-kind city. If you wander through Gastown’s cobblestone streets, you’ll see beautiful brick buildings home to some of the city’s most iconic restaurants and boutique shops in this idyllic fusion of old-world charm and contemporary glamour.

Both Gastown and the West End stand out for the wide range of upscale, award-winning restaurants lining their streets.

GLORIOUS GOURMET DELIGHTS

A melting pot of various cultural influences, incredible local ingredients, and innovative chefs looking to make the most of the unbelievable abundance surrounding them, this is truly an epicurean’s dream come true. Both Gastown and the West End stand out for the wide range of upscale, award-winning restaurants lining their streets. However, Chinatown and Kitsilano are quickly becoming two of the most popular destinations for foodies.

DECADENT DINING

Nowadays, many people travel to new places to try high-end and exotic foods. There are fewer than 3,000 Michelin-starred restaurants in the entire world, so if you travel to a city with one, you’d be remiss not to take advantage of the fine dining opportunity. But even if you’re not near any Michelin restaurants, vacation is the perfect time to treat yourself to sophisticated meals and indulge at the very best restaurants.

If you’re on a tropical vacation on an island, find the best restaurant that uses local ingredients, like fresh fish and fruit. For those visiting European cities, seek out spots with sophisticated wine and beer offerings, so you can enjoy a true taste of Europe. Food is ingrained in every culture on earth, and experiencing authentic cuisine in a new destination is one of the best ways to truly immerse yourself in the place and make your trip memorable.

RIDING IN STYLE

As people say, it’s all about the journey, and this applies to how you get around during your vacation, too. Instead of relying on taxis, ride in style during your trip by booking luxury transportation. You could hire a chauffeur for the duration of your stay, making it easy to explore the area without worrying about calling rideshares, hailing taxis, or navigating foreign public transportation. A chauffeur is easier than renting a car and allows you to indulge in a cocktail without worrying about how you’ll get back to your hotel. If you really want to add that extra touch of luxury, you can take transportation to the next level by chartering a private yacht! This special experience is ideal if you’re staying on an island or a tropical location, as you can enjoy the gorgeous views of your destination from a prime spot on the ocean.

DIAMONDS AND DESIGNERS

Instead of buying cheesy souvenirs from gift shops, explore the luxury shopping options in your vacation destination. While postcards or keychains can be great ways to remember your trip, they’re nothing compared to a stunning designer watch or a new pair of diamond earrings.

If you’re visiting a popular location, there will likely be familiar designer outlets, but consider shopping at the local boutiques and luxury stores. Many sophisticated destinations offer local jewellery stores where you can find rare pieces that no one else has. Aside from clothing and accessories, you can also visit unique furniture and home decor stores and bring home a piece of your trip to incorporate into your home.

PAMPERING AND REJUVENATING

Wellness experiences are a splendid way to enjoy your vacation and unwind. Luxury, high-end spas can rejuvenate your body with relaxing treatments like facials, massages, body wraps, steam rooms, mud baths, body scrubs, and more. Spas around the world often offer unique treatments rooted in their cultures, so it can be exciting to experience something new. Fire cupping in China, seaweed baths in Ireland, eight-hand massages in Mauritius, floating in the Dead Sea of Jordan, yoga classes in India, meditating at a Nepalese temple and venik massages in Russia are just a few unique experiences to try whilst travelling.

UNIQUE VIP EXPERIENCES

There are plenty of luxury experiences you can enjoy on your trip, and some of them are more adventurous than others. You could book an exhilarating helicopter or hot-air balloon ride in the area and enjoy incredible views with a glass of bubbles. Or go on a private tour of a vineyard or famous destination, like the Holyrood Palace, the Sistine Chapel, or the Taj Mahal. These are great options for couples and solo travellers who want to experience iconic places without being surrounded by tourists and who prefer to be led by their own personal guide.

For something a bit more relaxing, reserve a space at a nearby exclusive beach or yacht club, where you’ll have access to private beaches and docks. Whether you want to see the sights, relax and unwind or go on an adventure, do it in luxury!

But thanks to climate patterns, rich soils, and access to the right altitudes, Canada’s primary vineyard production centre is now making its mark. Bottles produced here are winning awards that used to go to places like California and Australia. But strict export limitations mean you must be here to taste the best of them, which, fortunately, you are!

WINE REGIONS OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

The first step in getting to know the wines of British Columbia, like any other major wine-producing region in the world, is learning about its growing regions. As far back as the mid-19th century, vineyard pioneers first identified the Okanagan Valley as a perfect place to grow grapes. With warm days and cool nights, conditions here have defined the approximately 155-mile stretch in south-central BC as Canada’s premier growing region. Everything from Merlot to Chardonnay is produced in the many sub-regions, which afford the right setting for the respective varietals. Nowadays, over 200 vineyards make their home in the Okanagan Valley.

The Wonders of Ice Wine

Tucked down at the southwest corner of BC, just outside the city of Vancouver, is the Fraser Valley. Here, we find the second most prodigious of British Columbia’s excellent vineyard regions, with over 40 estates currently producing. It’s a favourite area for wine tourism due to its proximity to BC’s largest cities. Some of the most prominent varietals grown here include Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Reichensteiner.

Just across the water on Vancouver Island, about 30 wineries are located among a very passionate community that loves to mix ecotourism with local sampling. Excellent Pinot Noirs are produced here, but “The Island,” as it is affectionately known by residents, also makes wonderful Chardonnays.

Halfway between Vancouver and the Okanagan lies the Similkameen Valley, where over two dozen wineries enjoy excellent conditions that expand British Columbia’s outstanding varietals. From this rich area, prize-winning Merlots, Syrahs, and Cabernets are wowing discerning palates. If you need to explore further, smaller areas with fewer vineyards lie further out in the province, all well worth trekking to. Thompson Valley is known for rarer varietals such as Marquette and Frontenac Gris. Shuswap’s lakeside region hosts many microclimates, allowing everything from Ortegas to Kerners to grow. And far to the east, Kootenays host rich ground perfect for Gamay Noirs and Gewürztraminer.

THE WONDERS OF ICE WINE

A unique grape libation to enjoy here in British Columbia is ice wine, which is served chilled and is incredibly sweet. But more remarkably, these wines are the product of grapes harvested in the winter, when they are totally frozen. This process squeezes most of the water out of the grape, concentrating the rest and resulting in a juice with a sugar content that rivals or exceeds that of soda pops. Originally developed in 18th-century Germany, this tradition was adopted in Canada by the 1970s. Meant to be prepared cold and served in small portions, they are either offered with cheese or with desserts that aren’t overly sweet. Like other wines, they can mature, and some of the most coveted vintages will be over a decade old.
